Clear, easy to use, great quality
The quality of this definitely speaks for the price. If youโre on the fence between this and a cheaper version, buy this. The setup is so quick and you can keep it on when your violin is back in the case without it doing any damage. It fits super great and I can see it fitting any type of bridge, too. Noise projection was super clear

Fabulous for the price!!
I play gigs a couple times a year and decided to invest in a minimally-invasive violin pickup to make mic set-up easier and cut down on feedback. The sound quality is fantastic! I opted to place the pickup on the A & E string side of the bridge as I felt the D & G side wasn't projecting the higher notes as well. Doesn't sound "tinny" like some cheaper electric violins sound. I think it does a great job preserving the rich acoustic sound and with minimal if any popping or feedback issues. It doesn't add too much weight, either. Great buy!!

Great sounding pickup
I have played my violin one session since installing this pickup. Ran instrument cord into a pre-amp pedal ( Boss AD-2) and through my church sound system. It sounds fantastic. * I did have to increase the opening size of the horizontal gap next to the bridge eye. I actually prefer having to modify as it provides for a custom fit. * Make sure the instrument cord is pushed in all the way! The jack is very tight at first, but relaxes a bit after inserting cord a few times.

LR Baggs preamp really helps
At first the KNA VV3 pickup on my violin sounded so bright and harsh i thought I would be sending it back. But after a day or so of tweaking using the EQ options on my LR Baggs Venue DI things have turned around dramatically. I had to roll off the piercing highs dramatically as well as some of the nasal mids. But now the sound is surprisingly warm and natural. I never would have thought it would be this good based on the first listen. I have to say I am completely satisfied now, and the volume level before feedback is awesome. So can say the KNA VV3 is a great option for a violin pickup, but you are likely going to need a good EQ capable preamp to tame this beast.

Itโs a nice sound
It has the warmer, woody quality I was looking for, but my first review was for three stars because of a crunchy midrange. But, I think the performance is improved with use, as if the wood aging made it better. Be advised too, that you will have to file a bit on your bridge to make more space for this pickup.

Great Device. . . . for Public Performance!
This is the second pickup like this I have installed. . . . . one on a full size violin, and this one on my viola, that I use on a regular basis for public performances using a PA or amplifier. The ease of playing my viola, without having to stand near a vocal mic is such a relief!! Now I can relax, and move more naturally with my instrument, and also use some reverb, effects with it, independent of our vocal mic settings. An extremely easy to install pickup system!! A slight modification to the bridge, with a mini file, or sandpaper. . . . .is all that is necessary for proper placement.

The packaging was very damaged.
The pickup microphone sounded beautiful, but the reason I removed two stars is because my box was completely open when I opened my Amazon package. There was no tape to seal the little box where the microphone comes in. I was very disappointed because I spent over $100 dollars only to receive a damaged box. Thankfully the microphone still worked, but I ended up returning it because the pickup didnโt fit in my violin bridge and I didnโt want to make any modifications to my violin.

Trรจs bon produit. Ma fille l'utilise avec un alto. Il ne faut pas hรฉsiter ร forcer un peu pour mettre en place le capteur. Brancher ร un petit amplificateur le son est parfait pour un concert amateur. Je le conseille fortement.

Kna vv-3 pickup works well with my viola
Pickup arrived promptly, well packaged and with clear simple instructions. Included was a little tool to tighten the barrels on the attached good quality "carpenter style" jack socket. The barrels were long enough to fit my viola, though I wonder if they might struggle with a very large instrument? The kna website suggests the pickup ships with spare longer barrels for such an instrument? As a precaution, I loosened the top two strings to avoid any distortion in shape of the bridge and set too with emery boards (used to file finger nails.) In no time at all, I had a snug fit for the piezo element. (See the photo) First impressions: plugged into a 1M ohm instrument input- a balanced, warm sound with lots of signal (more than I was expecting). Eventually, I boosted the presence and cut a little of the lows to closer resemble the acoustic sound of my viola. Not that you'll need to if using say, a smaller guitar amp. ๐ After a good long play, I was impressed by the usability of the sound - NO buzz, distortion, or hum. Maybe use a hi-pass filter to minimise handling noise if going into a large pa? As someone who's used amplified strings many years- my violin has the (industry standard) L.R. Baggs fitted - I'm VERY impressed, especially considering the price!
