The clip and ring both measure about 1 1/4". The ring is about 1/2" and the clip 3/4" long. Hope this helps you. Sandra

I will need to buy a few of them because i need to cover 55 fts. how can i connect the wires? is that possible?

So if you buy the wire kit, the clips just hook onto them. 1 wire kit can handle up to 197” in length however after 55” you need the support kit or the wires will sag (1 support kit every 55”) 1 pack of the clips should be able to handle over 55” of curtain width for hanging though. Connecting multiple kits is not possible, however you could buy a wire of the same gauge at the hardware store and with multiple support kits you’d be able to cover a good amount of ground. Not positive about 55’ though

I need this to cover an 8 ft space. How long is this product?

This is not a string of hooks and clips; each is an individual piece. You would have to determine how much space you wanted between each hook and clip to hold your curtain properly. In my case, I used 20 hook and clip sets to cover a 6 ft space. If it does not matter if the material gaps/pleats, you might manage with one package.
