I purchased one of these to keep in my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee instead of relying on the dreaded scissor jack of death contraption. It's not fun fiddling with extension poles, trying to align the jack and turn the awkward handle while on the side of the road with a flashlight (usually in the winter). This is small enough to store in the spare tire compartment. I opted for the storage case to keep it from tumbling around. In addition, I keep a small piece of 2x6 in the vehicle to serve as a stable base for those times you're using it on dirt on the side of a road. Of course the first thing I did was test it out and I suggest you do the same....ensure it doesn't have a leak. Don't wait to test it while on the side of the road. These are not magic - you definitely need to know where to position any jack. Be mindful of reviewers who are not qualified to review things stating "it doesn't lift high enough for my SUV"...They're not placing it in the proper location. It lifts my RAM 1500 with A/T tires enough to change a flat. And yes, it may be too tall for your vehicle....Check the measurements....know what you're doing before buying it - but that's another topic. This is also the reason I store two short 2x6's in my vehicle compartments - to compensate for sand, uneven surfaces or situations that may require a little extra height. I like that the jack has decent travel distance - just over 14". Plus, the lift head (saddle) is adjustable, so you can unscrew it a few inches in order for it to come into contact with the lifting point - this way you know exactly where the pressure will be exerted. It effortlessly lifted the Jeep enough to change a tire. As a side note, these things are relatively inexpensive, so I'd suggest over-sizing it a bit to have plenty of lifting power. I bought a 4 ton for a Jeep that weighs 2.5 tons (remember you're not lifting the entire vehicle weight - just a portion of it). Another thing to check before you order one...Make sure the height of your vehicle will allow this to be placed under the lifting point (remember - a flat tire will cause the vehicle to be even lower). You need about 8" of clearance to position the jack before it's even raised. This is best for SUV's and pickups. A small downside is the lifting head (saddle) seems a bit small - about an inch in diameter. It doesn't affect functionality, but a bit wider would've made positioning it a little less precise and would distribute the pressure a little more. Mine arrived fine - I assume since I purchased the one with a case. Maybe those that experienced leaking or box damage didn't order it with a case? These are heavy to ship loose in only a cardboard box. Overall, this is a good tool to have in a vehicle. I will add that any temporary jack such as this should not be used if you have to go under the vehicle. I personally would be comfortable using it to change a tire if you position it securely, but nothing more without adding jack stands. I purchased another one for my RAM 1500. This style is much easier than a scissor jack. NOTE: I purchased this item on Amazon for full price and have no affiliation to the seller. Only used it to lift an adjustable bed off the floor, while removing a rug from underneath. Worked great, easy to use, and an affordable price.

I've used this brand of bottle jack for years. The quality is great for the price. The case is perfect and of compact size to fit in a car or in a tool box with ease. Never have seen one of these fail or go bad, and that's including having the crap beaten out of them.

The jack comes in a nice hard case making it easy to store and transport. I’ve used it on a large SUV and a full size pickup truck and it worked great.
