MotoBatt MBTX14AU QuadFlex AGL Sealed Battery
I usually buy the cheapest motorcycle battery available, because most of the time, most of them, including the OEM brand, don't make it through even the mild winters where I live. However, the last three cheap batteries barely made their short 90-day warranty, with the last one making it to 91 days - 1 day beyond the warranty. So I thought maybe paying more for the next battery might be worth it.When I saw this battery had a 2-year manufacturer's warranty, which is twice what the OEM (YUSA) battery offers, I knew this was the next one to try.The MotoBatt MBTX14AU is sold by several vendors, both on Amazon and eBay, as well as other on-line vendors. Some of the other vendors have a better, and more thorough description of the battery. The vendor I purchased from didn't even list all the battery models this replaced, nor use the term QuadFlex, or AGM. Nevertheless. I bought from this one because I have had very good luck buying through Amazon, and the shipping was free, with no taxes.I also visited the manufacturer's website, where a cross listing of vehicles and battery designations confirmed this model replaced my OEM battery. This battery is a QuadFlex, which means it has four terminal locations, one on each corner, which allows you to choose whether the positive-negative terminals are located left to right, or vice versa. That is a very good move by the manufacturer, which allows this battery to be used in many more applications -- replacing 19 different models, according to the manufacturer. When you receive the battery, you have to install the battery posts (included) on the terminals you want to use, which is very easy, and an Allen wrench is included in the box. Also included is a spacer for longer battery boxes, but I didn't need it.When the battery arrived, and the terminal posts installed, I managed to stuff it in the battery box on my motorcycle. It was a very tight fit. I may go back and enlarge the battery box a bit to be sure that nothing touches the frame to transmit vibrations to the battery. Probably most owners wouldn't want to do that, but I have already made a lot of small modifications, including to the frame, and the bike is already 25 years old, long since discontinued, so no loss in value. The battery itself is a sealed battery - No battery acid to add, no vent to bother with, no water to ever add, or battery acid to condense or drip on to the frame. And it came in the US mail fully charged and ready to go. Being sealed, you could mount it upside down, I guess. The battery is a AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) which is an evolutionary advancement in acid battery design, with mats between lead plates that soaks up all the battery fluid and keeps it in place, as well as making the battery more vibration and impact resistant. (Which is also why it can be shipped through the US mail, and endure all the rough handling by the post office without damage. The battery lists cold cranking amps (CCA) as 190 at -18 degrees Centigrade (O degrees Farenheit). The OEM it replaces claimed 200 CCA. So I was curious how the battery performed under load. When I hooked it up started my bike, it started quicker and easier than a new OEM battery. So I know the CCA of the Motobatt is conservatively listed. The OEM had a 14 amp-hour capacity, while this MotoBatt has a 16.5 amp-hour capacity.Since I just got the battery, I can't say how long it will lasts, or how good the warranty service is. But as I go along, I'll report back with an update if I run into any problems. So far, I am very happy to have found this battery -- and so far, it has more than lived up to my expectations. I would definitely recommend MotoBatt to my friends as the superior battery.UPDATE 13 Dec 2012 --I have this battery installed seven months now, and have left it unattended and unused since the first of September 2012. That's almost 3-1/2 months just sitting there (I bought a new truck to play with). Normally that would mean a very dead battery, but I got on the bike the other day during a warm spell, and the battery cranked the engine over like it was new -- very impressive the way it holds a charge.UPDATE 15 Mar 2013 --Well, three more months have passed without nary a use nor have I yet to use the trickle charger on it. Went out today (75 degrees out) and sprayed some starter fluid in the air intake, and that awesome battery kicked the engine over and started the motorcycle. I have never had a battery that held a charge like this one. I am in awe.UPDATE 26 Dec 2013Well, I have had this battery 19 months now, and it still carries a full charge like it was brand new. It has been a pretty early winter down here in central Texas, so very little riding this month. But I did crank it up for a ride when during a brief warm up two weeks ago. Cranked right up. Just for experimentation, I hooked a trickle charger up to it, but in less than five minutes the charger indicated a full charge on the battery. It is just nothing less than phenomenal the way this battery holds a charge.UPDATE 27 Apr 2014Well it is nearing the 2-year mark, and this battery is still like new. I just fired up the old scoot today. It was a long very cool spring, and I also took the front wheel off to change the wheel bearings, so I got a late start on biking season. The bike is old and decrepit, but the battery is still awesome. Just to be on the safe side, I had hooked up a trickle charger to it, but it showed a full charge in just a few minutes.UPDATE 16 Mar 2015Well it is just two months shy of three years since I bought this battery. Winter started early, and was and long this year. -- I just cranked up the bike today for the first time in almost five months. No battery tender on the battery all winter. I sprayed some starter fluid in the air cleaner opening, clicked off the kill button, pulled the choke lever all the way back, and hit the starter button. Damn -- that battery kicked the engine over like it was brand new. The engine started, and I let it run to warm up. I just can't believe how awesome this battery is.

Great Batterry
Bought 2 years ago. Still going strong despite being ran dead several times and despite the loads that I put on it. I have several accessories and pull a trailer with this motorcycle and this battery has always performed.Update - Battery Going on 3 years now. Still no problems with it, I have ran this battery so dead that it would not even make the faintest light from the headlight, or power anything else for that matter. Had a dead short in the charging system of my bike, jump started a few cars, and generally abused this battery badly. It still holds a charge well, and has been the best motorcycle battery I have ever used. Finally in 2019 The battery died. I am now going to buy another.

Motobatt has poor product and poor customer service - will never buy again
Installed terminals and within a few days the negative side completely corroded. Battery was not installed in bike at all. Amazon said to go through the manufacturer/seller. So I emailed Motobatt and had several frustrating exchanges with customer service rep Chad Beech. He clearly didn’t read my email stating the battery was never installed as I got replies saying there could have been acid on the battery cable then later that the charging system of my bike was bad. After pointing out twice he is not reading my message he stated if I wanted to return it I would have to deal with the seller. Of course Amazon says the seller is Motobatt. I asked “Chad” for another contact at his company and that led to a dead end - no response. Ultimately Amazon did take care of the issue but only after 45 minutes on the phone and being disconnected twice. I am not going to pay a premium price for a battery that the manufacturer won’t warranty, or at least take the time to show interest in a customer’s concern. Motobatt sucks.

Being sealed is just great. No acid to mess with
This battery was a bit expensive...however its performance more than makes up for it. It cranks VERY strong. Even after letting my bike sit for a few weeks, then trying to start it in 30 degree (F) weather. Being sealed is just great. No acid to mess with, and you could really mount it any way you want if you have a custom build. Lastly, I LOVE that it has 4 terminals on top. So you could have your main cables hooked up to two, and battery tender pigtail wired to the other two. Helps keep things clean and keeps from having too many wires hooked to the main terminals. Ill buy one again!

Ho Lee Cow
...in the words of Phil Rizzuto. I'm blown away by these batteries. I bought two of these - this little one for my KLR, and another one for my old Concours. They both rock. It's been almost exactly two years since I bought the first one, and it still cranks. On that bike, because the tires need to be replaced, I let it sit for months (I know, I need to at least start the engine more often), during the coldest part of the year no less, and a few weeks ago I finally made myself start her up just to get the fluids moving and things lubricated, and the MotoBatt didn't even flinch. It cranked like it was new out of the box. The bike took a bunch of attempts before it would fire on its own, but the AGM kept cranking without even a hint of losing juice. Freakin' INCREDIBLE.

Best battery on the market!
I bought 3 of these batteries from Amazon 3 years ago for my snowmobiles. These sit around for 9 months out of the year with minimal charging. Have not let me down yet. I used to buy lead acid batteries every 1 to 2 years because they would not last. I highly recommend these batteries. I would also recommend a Battery Tender to keep them charged. Amazon has the best price on those also.

I will try again
I bought 2 and one did not last 8 months before it would not hold a charge had both on battery tenders to keep them up when I am not riding. Its been a while and I bought a replacement for the one that did not last very long, I think the ones I bought the first time might have been setting for a while or a close out. The prices sure have jumped up , paid around $30 more for it this time around. They run just under $100 now.
