Women's Life in Greece and Rome is a book about, you guessed it, women's lives in Greece and Rome.This was a required text for a Western Civilization I class, and it did its job informing me about the lives of women in Greece and Rome. This book largely consists of translations of source texts, with some analysis of their contents. It is neither too technical for a relative layman, nor too watered down to be a good reference text in the future, so I'm going to keep it, rather than reselling.I would hazard a guess that if you're reading reviews of it, you're either very interested in the specific topic, or are required to read it for a class, so I can't imagine that what I have to say would have much effect, but here it goes: Women's Life in Greece and Rome covers its topic in depth to a degree that I don't imagine any other text in this area does. If you're interested in the subject matter, then this is the book for you.

This is an excellent collection of source materials including literary an iconographic evidence for the lives and experiences of women in these ancient civilisations. There are 100s of examples of how women lived, worshipped and died. It is best suited to students of history or classics, but equally appropriate for the dedicated amateur.

had some written notes in it but overall not bad

got this book for a class and ended up reading a majority of it on my own for pleasure. Not a chronological book, but one that references different topics throughout history (i.e. Slaves, goddesses etc..). Very informative and full of information.

Excellent. A must read for women smart enough to know, that the doctrines in todays church world are leaving much to be desired, regarding women. Author has approached the topic very intelligently. Very well researched.

I had wanted the third edition, but was sent the second. I am not sure if it is VERY different or if i did not read the description clearly, but I still need the book for class
