C.D.: The Man Behind the Message

This is an in depth and well researched biography of this great man of faith and vision. An outstanding work on his evangelism and work.

Having grown up in the Brooks era and attended school with his son, I was truly inspired to read of the man behind the scenes that I’d not really known about. I was inspired by his humility, his stand for truth, his dependence on God,his color-blindness, and his determined soul winning. I was truly inspired.

One of the most moving, inspiring, and thrilling books I have read. Reading about Elder and Mrs Brooks and the 1000s of lives their ministry has touched and changed has not only opened my eyes to so much of the history of Black Adventism, it has drawn me closer to Jesus. A must read for every SDA. I have only one suggestion that would have made the book more enjoyable. As is the case with many biographies, photos.-- Joe Dent

CD is truly a man anointed of God, what a thrilling life story! I was truly blessed by his righteous life. However, I was very disappointed that there were no pictures of him and his family. Kudos to the writers. I was in awe of such writing that was of the highest standards and caliber. God has truly blessed this man who has turned thousands of lives to Christ. CD is one of the "apples of God's eye".

Reading about a man God called to do His work without hesitation encourages me to remain faithful. What a love story! God first, then his lovely bride Walterene. Everyone should read this inspiring book. I promise you, your life will be changed forever.
