Great time management/organizational system that doesn't require a big investment
Super, straightforward book. It gives lots of great ideas that don't require electronic organizational systems. This is perfect for those that feel they have to keep piles on their desks because they think out of sight out of mind and worry something might fall through the cracks. This method of organization allows you to keep lists and the details in the files in the drawers where they should be kept (not on your desk!). It is much like the Franklin Covey method but without the big complicated FC planners.I have a clean desk, feel organized and nothing falls through the cracks like it did when I tried to keep everything I had to do in sight.I HIGHLY recommend this book. If you need an oganization system that is simple and no investment into software, etc. is involved this is your answer.

Excellent Guide to Project Management
This book turned out to be something other than what I first expected, as I was anticipating another "time management" book. Though there are elements of time management here, what this book really offers is a sound approach to managing projects. Such clusters of multi-step tasks comprise so much of our lives at work and at home. Whether you are converting your office software over to Windows Vista or aiming to lower your golf handicap by 10 strokes, you are dealing with projects. At times the authors lay it on a bit heavy about the Franklin Quest (now Franklin Covey) approach, but that is a minor quibble. If you want to learn the sound "blocking and tackling" fundamentals of prohect management, invest time reading this practical book!

Proven Principles Prevail
Although this is an old book – – many of the principles and concepts as well strategies – – are still as effective today as they were more than 30 years ago when the book was written.I first started using the Franklin day planner in the 1980s – – and although today there are many digital programs and applications that can handle time management – – there's still a lot to be said about having plain old paper and pen – – to make your daily to do list.

Great read for personal & business life
Found the concepts easy to comprehend, author stayed away from a lot of techno-jargon. Found that the ideas and principles applied not only to the business world but also to my every day personal life as well.

A common sense approach
I read this book to fulfill a requirement for my employee performance review. The 5 star reviews by A Customer (December 15, 1998), Scott Dahlke "Sr. BSA" (June 8, 2010), A Customer (November 9, 1997) and the 4 star reviews by njbookworm (November 9, 2000), & A Customer (March 8, 1999)--probably the most realistic one, all do a good job of describing this book. The book is divided into 3 parts:Section 1:Choose your projects wisely which covers on how to create a personal vision, exploring and enhancing your personal creativity, and building success with the productivity pyramid.Section 2:Organizing your time and flood of information which covers values base time management.Section 3:Making project completion easy, which covers planning and implementation.pp.36-38 provides background on left-right brain thought processes and how this affects one's creativity, so this book is part psychology, too,pp.40-43 discusses the importance of mindmapping to help generate new ideas.Figure 12-3 provides an A through D priority matrix for the reader, with A being vital and giving he/she the highest return on investment & D being of lowest value.Chapter 7 provides the reader a 7 step planning model for project management.Appendix A provides the reader forms to help one get started.Appendix B provides a best bet filing system. Here are a few excerpts from it:The goal of the book:"This book offers not a technical approach but rather a practical and creative approach to project management...project management for the masses. It's for those of us who need to manage sometimes small, sometimes large projects, while at the same time balancing our workload with all the other elements of our life."On the importance of project management:"In our increasingly demanding world, the people who succeed will be the ones who can initiate, manage, and complete challenging projects. They will be the ones who know how to create a vision that engages everyone on the project. They will be able to define expected results; break the project down into bite-size tasks; develop achievable schedules; communicate concisely, clearly, and rapidly; adjust quickly to changes; monitor progress; and accept nothing short of project success."On successful time management:"...is not about getting more done in a day, it's about getting the things done that matter most...Getting done what matters most leads to a life of balance, personal satisfaction and inner peace. Choosing the tasks to be done is more important than any system of completing random tasks. The tasks we manage on a daily basis need to (be based on) our values."

Easy Read and a Great Resource
With simple steps in HOW to plan, this book truly maps out the WHY behind everything we do.I purchased this book as a resource, because I am a training consultant. I will definitely use some of the tools and techniques for NOT only the Time Mgmt Class that I am creating, but also how to organize my workspace better.I highly recommend this book...

A great reference
Few books have ever done so much for me. This book has helped me organize so much of my life, it's not even funny. The best part of it, is it's not about making lists and filing papers, it's about what's important to you and really helping you prioritize what really matters in your life. You'll be amazed at how easy it really is to be focused all the time.

Great Time Management Tool
This is a very well written book and really does help one focus on what's important. I liked it so much, I used it in a Mentoring Training Session for the entire organization. It was very well received. An easy and fast read--but powerful!
