Nice thickness and it is proper flax material. I treated it with flour and put it to use straight away. I have a number of couche cloths so I believe I am in a good position to compare. This one is a good size and I'm very happy with the thickness of it. I see negative comments about it coming from China - well there are indeed many products manufactured in China and many times you will not know the true origin of products you buy. Use the same judgment on choosing a quality product as you would from any other origin. As for not washing - this is general advice for any couche made anywhere of any quality. If you wash a couche it just may end up smaller than before and lose some of the stiffness that you need (yes, I've done it) but the reality is that your couche improves with use and getting fully impregnated with flour. This cloth is a good quality. i recommend it.

Ideal for proofing. I’ve found that even high hydration doughs tend not to stick to the material unlike when I’ve used tea towels which do tend to stick. Makes bread making that much easier

I think I need to break into it a bit more. It’s quite stiff, which is how I wanted it to be, but my inexperience meant that I found it a little bit tricky to manoeuvre at first

Seems ridiculously rigid, to the point where it won't hold any of the folds without having something to weigh it down on both sides. I used plenty of flour to treat the couche but after a couple of uses its still much more rigid than any others I've seen being used.

This item was one of those that turns up when you add to your cart & there is the statement that other purchasers also bought. Well, this turned out to be really nice addition to my proofing basket/dough whisk etc purchase. I have it only used it once, but I like how the baguettes turned out. The cloth was alittle stiff, but a quick roll in the opposite direction helped with that. I have Amazon Prime, so my entire purchase arrived within 24 hours after purchase - very speedy indeed! All in all, I am very happy and anticipate many years of baguette making!

Großes Tuch, reines Leinen, aber sehr steif in der Haptik. Hab es einige Male über die Tischkante gezogen, aber ohne nennenswerten Erfolg. Man soll es ja nicht waschen, also hoffe ich, dass es mit längerem Gebrauch auch geschmeidiger wird. Eine gewisse Festigkeit ist ja durchaus gewünscht.
