Moving into our new condo, we discovered that our queen box spring would not fit down the stairs to our bedroom. Having other nightmares to deal with as far as the new place went, replacing it with a split queen was stuffed into the backs of our minds. For a moment, my bf and I thought it was fun to slum it like we were in college again. For a time, of course, until our backs reminded us that we are a bit removed from those years. I needed something to sate us until we got around to buying a new box spring and chose this foundation based upon the reviews and the price. The general consensus is that it looks super cheap and that most who own it are surprised by its durability. Add me to that party. I carried it down the stairs with no problem and assembled it with even less of a problem. I am more handy than many and I assembled it in what probably amounted to an entire 90 seconds (if that), which is to say that anyone could probably give it a hard enough look and it would assemble itself well. It was really that easy. If you can flip your wrist, it can be done. After the assembly, I flipped my mattress onto it and dressed the bed. Still skeptical, I gave it a good kindergartener-intensity jump. You know, for quality control purposes. When my bf arrived home from work, he was also pleasantly surprised. I am a woman of average vertical measurement and perhaps slightly below average weight (on a good day) and my bf is tall, but of average mass. The foundation has stood up well to various activities, and I haven't even had the need to tighten up the wingnuts (which will inevitably have to happen). At this point, I really see no need to replace it with a real split box spring. I am a fan. An addendum: I write this a year and a half later, and am still pleased with its performance. This has since weathered a disassembly and reassembly in a move from the old place. Not only is it still incredibly well intact, but I have yet to hear a single peep from the frame. Not one. Our last (ridiculously expensive proprietary) frame was awful and being surreptitious about anything that may happen on a bed (like who doesn't jump on the bed and eat gummy bears?) was not happening. This thing is a ninja. I still love this frame.

First, a little note. When people review stuff online, it's usually because they totally loved the product or hated it. Unfortunately, that doesn't account for STUPIDITY, so reviews should be treated with caution. Personally, my favorite reviews are usually 3 stars. They're usually pretty honest. Here's how I use online reviews: a) I carefully read the full item description, features, and specs from the manufacturer, and look at photos of the product to check for consistency. b) I read five to ten of the 5-star reviews to see if what the reviewers enjoyed matched the item description. c) I read every 1-star review and use a rubric that scores on: i) the reviewer's intelligence level (not even highest education received and I feel like I'm very generous on spelling and grammar mistakes, as I think an average fourth grader is still competent enough to rate most products), ii) the reviewer's experience level with products of that nature (for example, if I'm buying carabiners and the reviewer says they know nothing about climbing, then I know I can't trust the review), iii) whether the reviewer is reviewing the product or the seller (yes, there is a different place to rate the seller, as well as the packaging and shipping speed, but some people don't seem to understand that, see above for stupidity), iv) whether the reviewer read the item description, v) and finally, what they were actually disappointed about. This bed is exactly as described. I bought it to replace a platform bed with wooden slats that I didn't feel confident would stand up again after another move and my career field leads to lots of relocations. Field technicians in biology, ecology, forestry, etc. have adopted the phrase "bio gypsy" and for good reason. I read multiple reviews for this product and loads of other beds like it before I decided to take the leap. And leap I did! 1) It is extremely easy to setup. I took about 20 minutes, diligently checking that I'd securely tightened all the foot-supporting bars' wing nuts: first when the two halves were upside down, then when they were right-side up and finally after I'd connected them. There were instructions for assembly, but only a very very dumb monkey would need them. The support bars for the legs are very obvious and if they aren't, try to imagine any reason for the wing nuts, to which the support bars attach, to exist on such a minimal design. Also, part of those 20 minutes were also spent making sure the thing would disassemble as easily as it setup. It passed that test. 2) I've had the bed for less than a week, but I've been testing it pretty thoroughly (though not in the "active couple" way quite yet, that will be next week (; ) by jumping up and down and rolling and bouncing. I've tried to make it squeak. I weigh ~140 lbs (which isn't particularly heavy, I know, which is why I've been aggressively jumping to try to get a squeak) and I can't get a peep from this thing. There are no pieces of metal to rub together to make any god-awful noise. There are some reviews that mentioned both creaking AND squeaking. I may be wrong, but I consider those to be very different. Creaking would occur if there was some part of the frame rubbing another and squeaking is when a joint or contact point moves audibly. There is absolutely no creaking here. Oh, but wait, I should mention that I took about two minutes to adhere a small piece of cardboard (cut from the box) to each of the twelve feet to keep the rubber feet from squeaking on the hardwood floor. I would've done that anyway to protect the floor. Also, I placed some to act as bumpers on the parts of the frame that could contact the walls during grown-up activities. A little bit of foresight should go a long way there, I think. If the bed starts creaking after a few months, you should check that all the nuts are still tight. It is normal for those things to loosen up. 3) This frame is not an eyesore. If it doesn't look like a fancy bed for your master bedroom, then buy a bedskirt. It does look metal. And it has lots of under-the-bed storage space. That matches the item description and the photos. 4) There are no brackets for head- or footboard attachment. Those are sold separately. 5) My mattress doesn't slide around. I'm not sure why that's an issue for other people, and there aren't any rails or listen lips to keep it in place, but it's still not an issue. 6) This product eliminates the need for a box spring. Some reviewers have said they feel like the princess and the pea because the mattress is so high when they use this frame plus a box spring. Also, there is no need to buy pieces of particle board to add extra support for the mattress (unless it is a foam mattress with absolutely no support for itself). The thin metal wires are strong enough for the job. 7) I expect the frame to be compatible with some wooden frames (probably if made by the same company), so I'm not surprised that some people couldn't get this to work out. Check the dimensions of the wooden frame you want to place this inside of and check the product specs before ordering.

The title says it all. I purchased the frame on June 27, 2013. Notice the date of the review. The frame is rated a whopping 2400lbs. Maybe that's 1200lbs for each of the smaller twin frames that make up the queen. It was easy to assemble with no tools. The design is really good. But today, I sat on the side of my bed for a little while - maybe 10-15 minutes - and felt something "give". I came home from work to check it out, and noticed that a section of the frame - where I had been sitting up - noticeably bent. REALLY BENT. I was shocked. I know that even with steel you can get weak spots. And I'm a big guy whose had no problem sleeping on TWIN size beds most of my life without incident. This is just shoddy construction. I decided to exchange the frame - only because the design is so easy to assemble - so this review will be followed up by an update once I get the new one, and return this one. I hope my review improves. UPDATE: I received my replacement frame just days after I wrote the previous 1 star review. Here is my setup: Sleep Master frame, Queen Size 8" Memory Foam Mattress, and two (2) 30" x 80" 11/32" plywood boards (one for each of the two frame platforms). I went to my local HomeDepot and got the plywood boards,and had them cut to the exact measurements of the bed. The 11/32 size is very thin, but still strong enough to serve its purpose, which was to distribute weight across the ENTIRE frame. People have been complaining about the squeakiness of the frame, but weight distribution ELIMINATES nearly all the squeak. The Memory Foam mattress takes care of the rest. My platform bed has virtually no squeak and feels Super-Solid. I strongly recommend getting some kind of thin board across the platforms. Without it, this frame has tiny pressure points at each and every metal cross wire, which can also individually bow and/or bend. So I recommend this frame if you want an affordable platform bed, that gives you storage space beneath it. Add yourself a decent headboard and skirts, and you will have a very attractive, modern looking bed for a fraction of the cost.

A retired Marine gunnery sergeant now at 285 lbs. 69 yrs young and as we say in the Corps :no longer lean but still mean, semper fi. I bought a town house 5 yrs back and as a golfer lower backs are common so I bought a platform bed so I would be lower to the floor when getting up which I felt would take stress off my back. Well last week the bed collapsed, which was made entirely with particle board and cheaply made and was cricking all the time. So I decided to get a metal bed frame that would hold my fat ass and not crick. I'm a guy that researches everything to the 9nth degree whether it be a new vehicle or a loaf of bread. I found the "Zinus 14 inch Smart Mattress" and read that it would hold some 1200pounds! So I, as usual read a ton of reviews. If their claim is correct then it should hold my fat ass up so I ordered one. So here's my closing. It actually arrived super quick, I live in San Diego, California. The majority of reviews I read were mainly about how log it took to assemble and some parts were not included. The parts are simply wing nuts and a couple bolts. I took the reviews as a challenge so I took a quick glance at the instructional diagram and assembled the whole unit in twenty minutes. I would suggest, which I did, is to get four (that's all you need) 1/4 inch lock washers to enhance the security of the wing nuts. So once assembled I said to myself once I put my mattress on it I said to myself" Gunny go for it" so I took a big diver upon it and it was like Heaven! it held my fat ass and my old wavy mattress felt great as well also. However, I AM purchasing a new mid-firm mattress to go with this gem of a Zenus Smart Base. Nothing more to say, the product is exceptional, worth every cent, don't sell it short, it is a must have, LOVE MINE!!

*disclaimer* I live in an apartment, if you do too, you've found the right review! Lemme start by saying, my S.O. and I had our mattress on the floor for the first 3 weeks of moving in to our new place. This meant our brand new sheets, comforter, and a few throw pillows, often frequented the floor; they all picked up dust, dirt, cat hair, etc., the usual day to day messes of life. Stepped on, slipped on, you name it, it probably happened. If you're in this boat, you know, it can be a little frustrating. I told myself I'd build a box spring, buy a nice bedframe with a headboard, do this right... That was 2.5 weeks after telling myself it would be worth it, looking in local shops for pre built box springs and seeing them for no less than $100, and almost $200 after delivery + taxes. Well, since I'm here I guess you can imagine how that went. With work, trying to make the apartment feel like home, constantly cleaning and trying to maintain a social life, and without really your own front yard to do the whole building thing, the idea just became a faint whisper. It was around this time I also noticed the closets were a bit cluttered too, but I just told myself, "this was apartment living" One night, I decided to come to amazon to see if they sell box springs. To my absolute distrust and hesitation, I clicked through some reviews of this platform bedframe. It seemed pretty promising, but some reviews had a couple issues with broken parts and said it felt uncomfortable. I decided to roll the Amazon dice and purchase the platform bedframe. 3 days rolled by and it came, shipped to my apartment and dropped off with a loud "thud" on the front door. The package was heavy and I guess the delivery guy was frustrated from my place being such a frequent stop for him with heavy packages. "Great..." I said, hoping no damage had occurred. The box was pretty beat up too. I opened it, assembled it (took about 5 minutes of finger tightening wing nuts btw) and plopped the mattress up on it. Thankfully it seemed to survive it's rough journey from the warehouse to my place, I noticed two things immediately: 1.) This was the answer to making the bedroom feel more like a home 2.) There is a ridiculous amount of storage underneath the bed that simply isn't allowed for in closets. I stuffed as many rarely-used items under the bed as I possibly could, which allowed me to straighten up the closets. I even made room to keep the box to the frame in there, just in case the S.O. didn't like it and we had to send it back. She came home and also instantly appreciated the look and feel of the bedroom. Needless to say, we did some investigation to see just how loud and sturdy the bedframe is. It's silent, and unmoving! ;) I threw the box out after 2 nights of sleeping on the bed, confident in my purchase and ready to guide other potential customers with a humongous review on why they should also take the plunge and try it. It seriously is the perfect bedframe for an apartment. You'll be glad you tried it!

I am a fairly big guy. I have had plenty of bed frames that have broken due to both carelessness on my part as well as the bed frames not being strong enough to hold my weight. We have done everything from rigging the bed frames and without fail they always ended up breaking. So for almost 10+ years I have been sleeping with a mattress on the floor. I started to do research on bed frames that would be able to hold together with my weight and I came pass this Sleep Master SmartBase Mattress Bed Frame which I saw could hold up to a advertised 2,400 pounds and I was automatically sold. The reviews of this bed frame were very good, the price was reasonable, and that is when I made my purchase. I got this bed frame and once unboxing it I was very skeptical. I could not believe that these two separate frames with two nuts and screws to combine them together to create a full frame would hold someone of my size, especially separately. The legs seem to thin, but the only thing that looked promising was this was made out of steel. Even screwing them together I still was very unsure. I was even weary about climbing onto this bed frame thinking it would collapse under my weight. Once I put my mattress on it and made my bed up I finally garnered up enough courage and climbed on and I was amazed it did not fall straight to the floor, matter of fact, it did not squeak, I felt no budge, nothing. This bed frame was a very solid, very sturdy, and very strong. I was amazed. The more I climbed on and off this bed frame my confidence increased and I am sure yours will too overtime. There were a few things I needed to get used to. First off, since I have been relatively sleeping on the ground for a decade I needed to get used to how high I was sleeping in the air. I believe it's about 14 inches off the floor which is pretty elevated. As an adult I can easily fit underneath this bed frame. You can comfortably place luggage and other storage items underneath it just to give you an idea. I have only had this bed frame for about a week so any squeaking that has been a big complaint and con of this bed frame has yet to occur. One accident I made while purchasing this product was buying a box spring. You can buy a box spring for this, but I would highly suggest you save your money and DO NOT BUY A BOX SPRING. With how high this bed frame sits off the ground and your mattress on top of it, with a box spring, you will be able to outstretch your arm and touch the ceiling on your knees with ease. Just my suggestion. This bed frame and a mattress is perfectly fine. I just want to touch on how simple this bed frame was putting together. You need no tools. You simply just latch and screw on tightly with your hands. It is that easy. I am pretty sure anyone from a child to a elderly person can put this together. Overall, I am impressed with this bed frame. I have no complaints about it. Easy to put together, it's a strong, sturdy, and solid bed frame that you can have confidence getting in and out of. If you like sleeping high then you will definitely get that from this product. I would suggest this to my fellow big people or just anybody who is looking for a new bed frame. I already suggested it to my brother. Right now, I will give this a 5/5 perfect score. I highly recommend this.

I purchased the full size bed frame set to go with my LUCID by LinenSpa 12" Memory Foam Triple-Layer Plush Viscoelastic Mattress . It has been absolutely perfect. First off it was very simple to put together. I did it all by myself and the directions were pretty sell explanatory. Only problem I had setting it up was attaching the frame to the headboard. I got the bracket attachment attached to the bed frame easy but was unable to tighten the but onto the bolt that attaches the frame to the headboard past a certain pint cause it didn't have the right shape or a screwdriver hole for me to hold it still. I will have my grandpa look at it when he isn't busy though. H e was a carpenter and I am sure he will be able to tighten it somehow. I also had a little trouble getting the bed skirt to stay still while I place the mattress on it. I plan on buying a set of sheet straps (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002DN6COU/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_5?ie=UTF8&smid=AHKISRTWHF3A0) to hold it in place better.It looks great though and is very sturdy unlike my old bed frame that was designed for a box frame and regular mattress. I love the height of it, perfect for people who store things under their bed. I actually have several storage bins under there and have filled up every inch. I used to require stilts that made my bed wobble to do this. Now I have that space allowed by the bed frame itself. I have had my mattress on the frame for about 2 days now and the combination is heavenly. It has just the right amount of support and I love the whole set dearly. I do kinda wish I could keep my mattress from sliding when I get on and off but the sliding is minimal and I think that fixing the bed skirt in place will help with that issue. Also even though the bed frame is the same height as my old frame with stilts the overall height is a lot less because you don't use or need a box frame with a memory foam mattress. Overall I think this is the best deal for this type of bed. I saw several other sellers for this design of bed frame on Amazon but after shipping they cost only about 10 or 15 dollars less and didn't come with a bed sheet or brackets. Since the headboard brackets alone cost $20 I consider this a way better deal if you have a headboard and or footboard. Plus it is nice to have a bed skirt to hid all the things that are stored under a bed this high.

Easy assembly, it’s actually a great product if you want a high quality frame for a good price, assembled in about 5 minutes, there is actually no squeaking noise at all , I replaced my old frame because of the squeaky slats, also this frame is foldable, great if you ever need to get rid of it or move , amazing product for this price range.

Le pense mucho en comprar esta base porque al ver la imagen y la forma supusé que sería una base muy frágil y complicada de armar. Sin embargo es todo lo contrario, no es pesada, se arma facilmente y es resistente, la recomiendo si eres una persona que cambias de casa constantemente, este producto es ideal. Asimismo te da la oportunidad de adaptarle una cabecera como un entrepié. El costo es accesible versus otras lugares donde vende este tipo de bases. La calidad es excelente. El unico detalle que le encuentro es el diseño dado a que pudiese ser solo una pieza en conjunto y no dos.

!!!!!!!Sept 2022 update: -Bought this frame July 2020 and I can honestly say it’s the one of the best purchases we’ve made. It’s still amazing. We’ve moved since buying it, and taking it apart/rebuilding it in the new place was super easy. I have no complaints other than you may want to add foam around the legs if you’re like me (I stub my toe a lot because I have terrible depth perception haha) but that’s not even a downside to the bed that’s just a me problem. A cut up foam noodle solved the issue fine! Also- my dog and cat spend a lot of time under it and it’s never once collapsed on them. Still holding up amazingly over two years later. Still no squeaks, not a sound. One thing I will recommend is getting a carpet for it or putting anti slip rubber things under the legs if you have hardwood, I just personally always recommend that anyways because I’m afraid of scratching the floor (we rent). Again not so much a product issue as a personal preference for precaution! TL;DR…. 2 years later it’s a great frame still. BUY IT! ((Original review:)) We bought this frame 6 months ago and it’s been amazing. I wanted to wait to review it properly. The frame is very tall so if you have a thick mattress you’ll find yourself up high like we do, but it doesn’t bother us. It worried me a bit at first because I was paranoid the frame would break, but after six months I can confidently say it’s very sturdy! Lots of space underneath for storage too, which is great if you live in a small space. The frame is silent, no squeaks or anything. Setup was relatively easy- less than 30 minutes. The frame comes with long sticky strips to adhere your mattress to the frame to prevent the mattress from slipping off. These work really well- almost too well, when we went to rotate our mattress recently it was really stuck on there! We ended up removing the tape and we found the mattress doesn’t really slip anyways, but the tape is really good for extra precautions if you’re worried. Overall this is a great frame for the price. Very sturdy, would recommend.
