Is this flowmeter accurate is it to let say 100 gallon how many gallons would a i be off by if any?

Mine has a 2.5% inaccurate plugs. I mean, it will show 100 litres, but will be fiscally 102.5.

Will this unit automatically turn on when water flow is sensed or do you need to turn it on before using the water?

Yes it is totally automatic. When you turn the water on it will start the meter and stop when you turn the water off. It has both an accumulative and session counter so that you can track the total amount of water or individual areas one at a time. I have 3 of these units and I love them all.

We have 8 units on one water meter. Can these be placed on each unit so we know how much water each tenant is charged

Should be able to buy a 5/8" meter from a major plumbing supply house for under $40 each. Ask for a plastic body unit. This will last many years, designed to be underground, water proof, etc.
