This has become my favorite way to cook rice. 🍚
This has become my favorite way to cook rice. It cooks up to 3 cups of uncooked rice in about 20 minutes, and as long as you measure the water correctly, the rice comes out fluffy and perfectly cooked every time. The biggest reason I bought it was the stainless steel inner pot is I wanted to avoid non-stick coatings, and this one has been great. The only downside is that a little rice sticks to the bottom after it’s done cooking. That’s expected with stainless steel, so it doesn’t bother me enough to take away from the overall experience. It’s simple to use, switches to Keep Warm automatically, and has been incredibly reliable. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a stainless-steel rice cooker.

Aroma Rice Cooker - Would Recommend - Works Great
I have an old rice cooker/veggie steamer that I received for Christmas many decades ago that still works great. But the inner liner(or pot) is 100% aluminum. And we know that aluminum has been linked to Alzheimer’s. So now that I’ve switched to a Whole-Foods Plant-based diet/lifestyle, I eat tons more whole grain brown rice. The inner liner of the Aroma Housewares rice cooker is stainless steel! Score! And it cooks brown rice perfectly!! It is as simple and easy to use and clean as the old one. Measure the rice with the included cup & wash the rice. Place it in the pot. Fill with broth or water or a mix of both with the same measuring cup. Place the cover on. Plug it in. Push the button down to cook, and 30-40 minutes later you have perfect rice! You simply add extra liquid (1/2 to 3/4 cup) than normal white rice and let it sit on warm after the timer ends to give it more time to cook. You just have to experiment. The first time I cooked whole-grain brown rice per the chart and recommended water, it was just slightly chewy. So per the instructions I just added a 1/2 cup more water and left it sitting on warm. That did the trick to finish cooking till it was just perfect. The second time, I added more water than the first time and let it sit 10 minutes after the timer ended. Perfect rice! I haven’t cooked quinoa or barley yet. But they are in the cooking chart in the book it came with. I can’t wait to try cooking other grains! Update: Now that I’ve used this rice cooker for a couple months, and about 6-8 times, to cook long-grain brown rice, I can say it’s a great cooker. And I saw the other reviews that complain about the cooker spewing water everywhere. That DID happen to me the very first time I used it. But after that, it never happened again even when cooking more than I did that first time. The first time I only used 2 cups of uncooked brown rice, and yes it did spew and starchy gloppy water went everywhere. It boiled over. But the next time I used it, I placed it in my sink anticipating a mess. I cooked 3 cups uncooked the second time, and NO MESS. The next time (3rd time) I placed it on my counter with a triple layer of paper towels underneath it, and again - no mess! So maybe it is some sort of coating that is scrubbed or cooked off, after the first use. Yes I did wash the inner pot when I unpacked it, before first use. So that may be the reason. But I’m here to tell you it hasn’t happened since. I highly recommend this rice / grain cooker. It’s perfect!

Stainless steel does not peel of into food like nonstick surfaces do. Love this little rice cooker!
Love this rice cooker. Perfect size for two, or small meals. Love that the "pot" is stainless steel. We replaced one that had nonstick interior (and was bigger) that has scratches and probably peels bits off into food. This one is much healthier. Same loved brand, just a better pot. Have purchased this a few times now. Great little gift!

This is a great little rice cooker
This is a great little rice cooker. The 3-cup size is much smaller than you might imagine, but it works perfectly for two people. We only cook 1 cup of uncooked rice at a time, and it makes two nice big portions in a short amount of time, especially white rice. It might be enough rice for three people but not four. The warmer feature is nice, but I wish there was an off button or an auto-shut off feature after a couple hours. You have to unplug it to turn it off. We frequently forget to unplug it right after serving, but thankfully it makes a little "click" noise intermittently while still warming and that helps us remember to unplug it. The stainless steel is great. The rice actually sticks less than our old, worn out "non-stick" rice cooker from Oster. It takes a bit of elbow grease to clean, but it does clean up nicely. There is absolutely no plastic or non-stick coating in contact with the food, which is a huge plus for us. Even the screws to hold the handle on are just metal, presumably steel. The handle on top is plastic, but it doesn't get in hot or come in contact with the food. The steel looks and feels like it's of a good quality. Some of the watery starchy goo bubbles out and onto the lid but it's never gone down the sides, just on the lid. It does let out a good amount of steam, so it's best to have it an open area, not under a cupboard or very close to anything hard to clean. I used to keep my coffeemaker right next to it, and it would get a bit of a film on it from the starchy steam. It's much easier than cooking rice on the stovetop and pretty hard to go wrong. We've cooked American long grain white rice, basmati rice, and brown rice in it. I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking to quickly and easily make one or two good portions of rice.

Versatile, easy to clean
I've had my pot for several years now. It's not automatic but it is very versatile. I use it when I travel as well as at home. I boil water for my tea, make oatmeal in it. I've even made grilled cheese sandwiches in it and scrambled eggs. of course I've made rice and cooked vegetables and every morning I make a cup of golden tea, which is a little bit of water, milk, and turmeric. I like it because it boils the milk gently, and according to Ayurveda, the milk needs to be boiled for a few minutes. This is one of the best purchases I've made in the past few years. It ranks right up there with my instant pot, which I couldn't live without, because I am disabled and primarily bedridden so I can't stand up in the kitchen and use the stove. It's also easy to clean. Good quality stainless steel is easy to clean no need to poison ourselves.

Wonderful rice cooker!
For all those who complained about the rice cooker making a mess, it's not a big deal. I grew up eating rice and helping my Mom cook rice the old fashioned way on the stove. Rice is a starchy product and even with washing and rinsing, it will still make a lot of bubbles (when boiling) containing some of the rice starch. I received my Aroma rice cooker on March 29 and gave it a test whirl by using 3 cups of white medium grain rice. Surprisingly, there was hardly any mess from this quantity of rice. The rice reached the lid while cooking which may have prevented the bubbles from forming and "spitting" out the steam vent. The rice was very well cooked. The next day, Saturday, March 30, I cooked a single cup of white rice again using the provided plastic cup. Much to my surprise, and even after thoroughly washing and rinsing the rice 3x's, the boiling action created the bubbles which then reached the steam vent on the lid and splattered a little water out of that vent on to my table top. It's really not a big deal, again, because rice is a starchy food item and I've never cooked rice either with a pot on the stove or a rice cooker that did not have some splattering of water while cooking. For me, the real test is how well the rice cooker cooks rice. This model did an excellent job with my 3 cup and my 1 cup tests. The rice was very well steamed and delicious. I own a larger Aroma rice cooker from Costco which has a lid that latches. No messes with this kind of a lid, but the capacity of that cooker is too large for my reduced family size. I've owned other brands of rice cookers and they also had some water that gets splashed around while cooking. The other plus about this rice cooker is that when I went to register the cooker at [...], I clicked on spare parts and noticed that they sell a replacement stainless steel cooking pot for $9.00. I don't know of too many rice cookers that come with a stainless steel cooking pot which was a big factor in my purchase. Most cookers come with an aluminum pot or an alumuminum pot coated with a non-stick surface. Like others who have commented, I prefer the stainless steel and no exposure to aluminum, nor, exposure to peeling or flaking non-stick surfaces. I strongly recommend this cooker for a small family, couple, or anyone watching their diet and requiring smaller quantities of cooked rice. I haven't tried brown rice yet but I will soon and may revisit my comments about this rice cooker and its ability to cook brown rice. Note that the supplied instruction booklet says not to use the measuring lines in the pot for brown rice. Brown rice requires more water so you'll have to follow the instructions for cooking brown rice in this cooker. 05/28/2013 Update Some of the reviews complained about splattering from the vent in the glass cover. I found that I could use a regular or soup spoon to cover that hole and lean the handle of the spoon on the handle at the center of the cover. The concave part of the spoon faces the hole and the handle leans on the cover. I've done this several times and the cooking process (vibration caused by boiling, etc.) does not make my spoon fall. No more splattering! Also, as others have noted in their review, if you leave this cooker plugged in after it's cooked the rice, it's on a warming cycle, but, it causes the bottom layer of rice to stick to the bottom of the pot. So, I've timed my cooking cycle to about 22 minutes for a cup and a half (your time may vary), set a timer, when the buzzer goes off, I unplug the cord immediately. Of course if you want warm or hot rice, this action won't do. However, if you pull the cord, the bottom layer does not stick and your clean up is easier. I love this cooker. Makes perfect batches of rice everytime!

Good
Nice to find a rice cooker without chemicals/Teflon coatings. Just stainless steel. Yes the rice will stick a little but that is an easy trade off for me.

Great little economical Stainless Steel rice cooker!
I purchased this rice cooker to assist my old Stainless Tatung rice cooker and my newer fuzzy logic rice cooker. Why do I need different rice cookers? I like the rice cooked in the newer fuzzy logic cooker. But I found cooking anything with hard shells or bones seem to degrade the finish of the nonstick inner pot (think seafood cajin rice, chicken drumstick pilaf rice, or asian rib rice dishes). I don't want to replace those nonstick inner pot every few months nor do I wish to use badly-scratched-up teflon inner pot for my rice (I think $40 for the inner pot?). So I use cooker with stainless inner pot for those application. I've been using a Ta-tung automatic rice cooker with stainless steel inner pots for more than 30 years. My old Ta-tung rice cooker has stainless inner pot, aluminum enclosed heating unit in the bottom of the outer pot, and requires water in the outer pot to cook rice. After three decades of cooking rice, stew, soup, cake, bread, and everything that fits, the outer pot's aluminum is not very appealing, even to this die hard Ta-tung fan. I found a new Ta-tung stainless rice cooker on Amazon with stainless less outer pot around $130 here http://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Steel-Rice-Cooker-TAC-11KN/dp/B004FWL3UA/ref=sr_sp-atf_title_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=1-2&keywords=ta-tung+rice+cooker. Trust me, $130 is well worth it if it's used to the extend as its predecessor. But Amazon had an excellent price on the Aroma so I decided to try it. Here's the comparison to the Ta-tung and its Aroma nonstick cousins. The Aroma cooks similar to its nonstick cousin in regards to the design of the heating element. It requires no water in the outer pot. Actually the heating element is not completely enclosed which means it's not water proof. This is a major difference from the Ta-tung type cooker. The Ta-tung type cooker's outer pot is sealed and can be used as a cooking vessel without the inner pot. The Aroma also requires its specific inner pot, while a Ta-tung type of rice cooker will take any size of inner stainless steel pot as long as it fits. So many reviewers have explained the size of this cooker. I will just touch on the power. The 14-cup Aroma can bring a cup of cold water up to light steam in around one minute, to boiling in about 6-7 minute. A larger Ta-Tung stainless steel rice cooker can bring cold water to boiling in about 3 minute. The Aroma stainless steel cooker's stainless inner pot is not as heavy duty as the Ta-tung stainless steel. It also lost some of its shine after one use. But it serves its purpose. Its glass lid is great for see-through, but also makes crackling sound when used. I would not expect the Aroma inner pot, the glass lid, or the cooker itself to last past 30 years. This type of rice cooker all requires cooked rice to sit in the cooker for 10-20 minutes in order to achieve the preferred texture for most people, Aroma and Ta-tung alike. The rice cooked in these cooker will not have the same texture as the rice cooked in a Zojirushi or Tiger fuzzy logic rice cooker. I know because I have all of these and use them all the time. This is not to say one kind is definitely better than the other because everyone has a different taste for their food (or rice). I know people who must have sushi rice or no rice at all, then a Zoju or Tiger fuzzy logic is probably the most convenient way to cook. I also know some cheaper rice cookers cook Jasmine rice better than Japanese rice. So if a person knows exactly what kind of rice they prefer, they can choose the rice cooker for their special needs. There are so many things I want to talk about this rice cooker. But there are so many great reviews already so I'll stop. Bottom line is... if this Aroma rice cooker is at a good sale price, I think it deserves a solid four star as long as one keeps the expectation right.

Good Quality but not Quantity
Quality is surely pretty good but quantity of cooked rice is limited barely for two persons.

Nice rice pot, stainless steel, still in use after 11 years...
I bought this Sept 2015, and I'm reviewing this 11 years later... It's lasted that long, average 3-4 days per week of usage It's a good size for a small family. The best part is the stainless steel - easy to clean, no flaking or chemical leech off The key to non sticking rice is to let it sit unplugged for about 10 minutes after cooking (don't worry rice will still be hot) - the bottom rice scoops up cleanly , no waste I'd say "I'd buy it again", but really I don't have to - it's still going strong

WRONG PLUG FOR EU
This cooker is advertised in the Dutch Amazon store but does not come with a plug that fits European outlets. It is an American plug.

5 star Rice Cooker ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I absolutely love this Aroma Rice Cooker! The standout feature for me is the stainless steel inner pot. It gives me total peace of mind knowing that my food is cooking in a safe, toxin-free material. No more worrying about non-stick coatings scratching off over time. It cooks rice perfectly every single time and is incredibly easy to clean. If you are looking for a healthy and safe cooking option, this is definitely the one to get!
