How to Develop Self-Discipline, Resist Temptations and Reach Your Long-Terms Goals If you want to make positive changes in your life and achieve your long-term goals, I can’t think of a better way to do it than to learn how to become more self-disciplined . Science has figured out a lot of interesting aspects of self-discipline and willpower, but most of this knowledge is buried deep inside long and boring scientific papers. If you’d like to benefit from these studies without actually reading them, this book is for you. I’ve done the job for you and researched the most useful and viable scientific findings that will help you improve your self-discipline . Here are just a couple things you will learn from the book: - what a bank robber with lemon juice on his face can teach you about self-control. The story will make you laugh out loud , but its implications will make you think twice about your ability to control your urges. - how $50 chocolate bars can motivate you to keep going when faced with an overwhelming temptation to give in. - why President Obama wears only gray and blue suits and what it has to do with self-control (it’s also a possible reason why the poor stay poor). - why the popular way of visualization can actually prevent you from reaching your goals and destroy your self-control (and what to do instead). - what dopamine is and why it’s crucial to understand its role to break your bad habits and form good ones. - 5 practical ways to train your self-discipline . Discover some of the most important techniques to increase your self-control and become better at resisting instant gratification. - why the status quo bias will threaten your goals and what to do to reduce its effect on your resolutions. - why extreme diets help people achieve long-term results , and how to apply these findings in your own life. - why and when indulging yourself can actually help you build your self-discipline. Yes, you can stuff yourself (from time to time) and still lose weight. Instead of sharing with you the detailed "why" (with confusing and boring descriptions of studies), I will share with you the "how" – advice that will change your life if you decide to follow it. You too can master the art of self-discipline and learn how to resist temptations. Your long term goals are worth it . Scroll up and buy the book now. As a gift for buying my book, you'll get my another book, "Grit: How to Keep Going When You Want to Give Up," completely free. Review: A potential life-changer! - Motivational and self-help books are a dime a dozen these days. Most rehash the same old motivational quotes and basic discipline tricks over and over again. Martin's "How to Build Self-Discipline", goes beyond that. Martin has done some serious research into the topic and it shows. The book is filled with interesting facts and scientific concepts, which are fully referenced by proper sources. The content isn't just some personal experience wrapped up in a pretty package, it's more. The author has combined both the theoretical and the practical in his book. Martin shares several interesting experiences from his own life and then expands on the concepts with actual research quotes. You never feel like you're just going to have to take his word for it, you know it's based on more than that. You know that the stuff he shares with you actually works. The book is very well written with no noticeable formatting issues or grammar problems. The tone is comfortably casual, yet reflects the authors experience and authority on the subject. Humor is aplenty which makes the read even more enjoyable and helps to grasp the information even more rapidly. Well worth the read if you with to build up your self-discipline and get ahead in life! Review: Upping Your Self-Discipline - The author describes himself as a self-disciplined person and thanks his mom for his being so. The author describes the book as answering two fundamental questions: • How do you build self-discipline in your life? • How do you resist short-term rewards in order to reach your long-term goals? The author states that he loves to test his boundaries to see how far his self-control will go. Readers of the book benefit from what he learned from his experiences and his knowledge of the published self-discipline research literature. Between his own life experiences and the published research he cites, this seven chapter book lays out a framework the author believes one can use to enhance their self-discipline. I found the book to be an easy, engaging read. If you are interested in building your self-discipline, starting with this book would be a good starting point for you.

awesome little book--pleasantly surprised!
I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. I stumbled across as a free Kindle Unlimited offering and, based on past experience with similar types of books assumed it would likely be some sort of surface treatment of the subject designed to get me to buy the authors other books. To the contrary, I was really impressed that the book offers very clear, helpful, and self-contained advice. You do not need to go buy another of the authors books to implement the advice in this one (though I plan to buy additional books by the same author because I enjoyed this one so much). Although a small book, the information is very clearly presented and offers useful and clear ideas. Each chapter presents the information and then a short summary of the same information for easy reference at the end. While not an academic book, the author clearly states why he recommends each activity. I was able to immediately implement the advice and find myself referring back to the book often. For me, this has been a very valuable book that is helping me improve my life.

An ok starter
Definitely a good "beginner motivator" if I had to put a title on it. Although it does have very good key points, they are pulled from multiple sources throughout other "self help" authors or studies. There doesn't seem to be a drastic underlying factor of his own 'philosophical outtake' or ponderings but moreover a list of facts pulled from others, sadly without the technical feedback. It almost seems as if he deludes the necessary 'why' and 'how' habits are made or willpower is exerted and rebuilt and just shoots directly to 'it is this way, I won't bore you with how'. All in all, not a bad read, but won't be sitting in my top list.

The Perfect Book for People Struggling With Self-Discipline
It is only a 93 page book, but it is jam-packed with great, effective advice for getting yourself back on track. Most longer books are so full of fluff, but this book gets straight to the point. Not only is this just refreshing in general, but it is also perfect specifically for people who are struggling with self-discipline since you don’t have to slog through a 300 page book! The whole book can easily be read in an hour or two. This is also great because it’s easy to reread whenever you need a quick refresher. As someone who really struggles with self-discipline, I highly recommend this book.

Brief multi-angled snippets on self-discipline
A good short book to quickly learn about the approach and aspects of self-discipline. It is very simple and straightforward and worth reading to get multi-angled focused snippets on self-discipline. An example: The most basic definition of self-discipline is the ability to control your urges in order to meet your long-term goals. The key word here is your long-term goals – your reason why you say no to instant gratification. The second best thing to stick to the promises you made to yourself is to have a strong “why” and remind yourself of it when faced with a temptation. I would definitely recommended it if you're interested in quick self-discipline advice. I would prefer a bit more details and better transitions between ideas.

i was fortunate to receive this marvelous book on a free KDP ...
it is indeed a rare occasion the one just stables on a real gem such as this book, i was fortunate to receive this marvelous book on a free KDP but looking beck i would considered its a real money worth. it is indeed a very good book on this uncommon subject. it drill deep into the core of our day-to-day problems and bad habits, offer practical and easy to apply Technics and most of all, keep it clear and down-to earth! no mystical mambo jumbo just clear-cut philosophy and crystal clear explanations on some of our most nagging problems. it is not the easiest book hence it does not try to sail you lies, but it offer the reader a road map and most of all hope! to become a better person. well done!

Great book that gets right to the point.
I rarely write a review but was so impressed with this book I thought it deserved one from me. Having a career in education and having been a student of psychology I have read quite a few books on motivation, human nature, and what motivates us to do the things we do. This is by far one of the best books I have read. So many books only have a few kernels of knowledge or information and gets weighed down by fluff or is just repeated through out the book. This book is straight forward and provides lots of useful knowledge backed by scientific evidence. It is a short book because the author does not weigh the book down with winded explanations, unnecessary rhetoric, and fluff.

Ampliamente recomendado.
