Great ladder, stores nicely and is not to heavy to move around.

A week ago I found myself eating rice & peas. Nothing wrong with rice & peas, surely, but it's not what I wanted to eat. At that point I realized, well, if I'm gonna be able to tell what's in the freezer here, I'm gonna have to change the burnt-out bulbs in the overhead kitchen light fixture.In the past I've handled such chores as many do -- with some makeshift stool or step, a convenient chair, overturned milk crate, what-have-you. But finally I realized: eating rice & peas by mistake is no way to live. So I broke down and ordered this Rubbermaid 3-Step Steel Stool.I'm happy I did. There are less expensive step-stools, sure, but this one is worth the few extra bucks.It arrived promptly, ahead of schedule, despite being shipped via UPS (who should never be trusted for residential deliveries). Made of hollow steel tubing and thick rubber steps, it's unlikely to arrive damaged, even shipped (as it was) in a snug box with no padding. It comes fully assembled, though you will need some sort of cutting instrument, scissors or a pocket knife, to remove some of the packing material.It seems plenty sturdy. It's made of steel, after all. It includes good solid rubber mounts on the legs, to prevent sliding or slipping, and to protect your flooring. There's also a small automatic latch that prevents accidental folding once the ladder is deployed. The rubber steps are grooved, so you won't lose your footing.It's more than tall enough for occasional interior household chores like changing light bulbs or hanging pictures. But it also folds compactly for storage, and is light enough that I can easily carry it in one hand. Even homeowners who need and have a full-scale ladder will find this one convenient and valuable for lesser reaches.If there's one drawback, it's the thing's appearance. The steel tubing is painted a sort of pewter-grey, and the steps and feet are dull black. It looks like a tool, something utilitarian, something that belongs in the garage, out of sight. Fortunately, it folds so easily and compactly that you can hide it away most anywhere.I'll be stashing mine in the hall closet...after I use it to change the light bulb in there, too. I don't expect there's any rice & peas lurking in my hall closet. But you never know.

This is very sturdy and high. Love that I can reach certain things and put them away. Doesn’t move when it’s opened and you’re standing on it

I've had mine for a bunch of years and it's still going strong. Stable and sturdy without being heavy or bulky. If the current one ever gives out I'll buy the same one again.

The step ladder is made of steel so it’s a bit on the heavy side. It’s sturdy, but the latch that locks the steps to the frame is badly designed and loosely dangling on the front of the top step board and the plastic rings that hold the step plates in the center position come off too easily. That said, this step ladder is the best option of all the ladders I’ve looked at.

Rubbermaid really makes some exceptional products and this is really one of them. The 3-step ladder gives you about 27 inches of reach at the top of the ladder and it's compact enough to fit in any storage area (I chose to store it next to a small gap near my refrigerator and I mainly use it for the kitchen). The maximum capacity for the ladder is about 200 pounds, but it can easily manager a few additional pounds of weight. The sturdiness of the design makes me feel well supported and reassured that whatever I'm doing at the top of the ladder that the ladder itself can easy support me which in of itself a great feeling when you're purchasing a ladder. It's surprisingly pretty heavy to hold. It's about 13 pounds and might be a chore for the wife/girlfriend moving the ladder around folding it and unfolding it.My answers to the frequently asked questions:What is the height of the top step??27.25-inches at the top.I weigh 210-lbs. You can easily fold it up. I like that the most. It is sturdy. I like the three steps. I can easily carry this around. It is a great product. I hope I don't need to buy another one though..... my kids loose them all the time.... a step stool! Go figure!
