Seems to be a high quality pump
This is my third pump in 8 years of irrigating from our lakes. I have learned that monitoring system status is key to reliable pump function because there are so many things that can go wrong that affect intake / prime stability. I try to monitor my midnight irrigation starts routinely, but every year or so the pump looses prime and runs semi-dry all night (not good). This 2HP Wayne pump appears to be well constructed and worked perfectly as part of my 'restore system function' / maintenance project. The only difference is that it does not have a plug to provide access for priming the pump, but I could never tell those did any good anyway. I've added a 3/4' fitting and ball valve to the intake pipe to prime the pump. If things go as planned, I'll never have to use it. But odds of never having issues again are slim - so many things can and do go wrong - debris stuck in foot valve, leaking fittings from exposure to winter, cracks from freezing, etc. An auto temp sensing heater rope around the pump seems to work for trouble free irrigation all winter, while draining the pump just seems to cause cracked housings. We usually stay above 20F but occasionally drop to 10F. Good luck with your irrigation project.

This pump Is Great and Made in the USA
It took a while for me to write this, but I just installed this pump last summer. great price on Amazon. It works great. I highly recommend this pump. The most reasonable in this price range and it is made in the USA. I love when I can find a far superior product Made in the USA that works and preforms as well or better than the foreign competition. If you need a pump like this to pump water from your lake or pond in my case my canal this works great. I love the fact that I can pump water form my canal and have incredible pressure when using my water hose. No more city high water bills. Plus it works great when watering my lawn. I have three different zones and all three work at once. This is a 220 model only.

Wayne wls200
Once I received a working pump, first pump lasted 1 min, blew the capacitor, some sort of defect in the in the shaft pick up. The replacement pump works great, quiet and does the job of watering 2 acres of lawn. Took two pumps to get one that worked, Amazon was great at a quick return and resend. Solid good quality pump.

marthon motor failed at 10 hours, $65 shipping to ohio for warranty work after they inspect it. pump purchased 2 months ago
new post 7 July update Well I made my first you tube video today and will post it this week. The subject is why you should not buy a product online until you research the warranty policy. Wayne uses marathon motors on this pump. I spent 1/2 hour trying to find information on this marathon motor and the company web site does not even list this product, I wanted to see if I could purchase any replacement parts as opposed to sending the whole pump assembly to Ohio for inspection / service or repair. I could not find any thing for this motor, but Grainger sells them for $203 and they are usually double the cost of any retailer which means this is cheaper than the worst Chinese import available. IF I want this pump to work I must send back to the wayne inspection facility at a fed ex cost of $67. New post: July 4 update Received a PDF with return instructions from Wayne today after several correspondences. sooooooo...drop this review down to one star because my $300 pump needs to be shipped to Ohio for inspection.....yes inspection. Now if they determine there pump broken with no negligence on my behalf they will fix or replace it. I have no box...and this thing is cast iron and is going to cost a fortune to ship. So I am currently using municipal city water to do what a 2 month old pump should be doing. I probably will not see a replacement for weeks. Found a semi local irragation company that sells sta-rite pumps and plan on purchasing a pump from them. I cannot believe that do not have a local service center in Orlando. I even offered them to take my credit card and sell me a replacement pump so I could to up and running with out a delay and they said they can not do anything untill it is inspected. YES in OHIO! So during this wait time my new sta-rite will be working while Wayne verifies that there marathon motor is junk. Yes this is a rant but be warned if it fails this is what you can expect. Bought this pump on May 10th purchased this pump to replace a 8 year old 1 1/2 hp water ace pump. Installed it 3 weeks ago and the dimensions were very close to the water ace so install was a breeze. I have a 20 amp sub panel with a 240 GFCI 6 feet from the pump controlled by a 240 switch. The pump is used as a shallow water sprinkler pump and died at just over 10 hours of use. The circuit breaker did not trip, the pump just shut off. There is 240 coming from the breaker and 240 at the the pump, The pump was warm but not excessively hot, but I gave it 20 minutes to rest just in case the thermal cut off was overly sensitive. After a 2 hour wait the switch was engaged for a second time and the pump did nothing. 10 hours and this thing is confirmed to be dead. Maybe the marathon motor should re branded back to GE since it is junk. The pump is under warranty so I am not even going to touch it. This pump is housed and was extremely quite, it took effort to hear the hum when running. It had more power than the water ace and the that gave a little extra pressure which was a nice upgrade. This appears to be a well designed heavy duty cast iron pump and when it ran it performed very well. contacted WAYNE pumps to start warranty replacement I will be updating this review periodically.

Sturdy and quiet.
I am very pleased with this Wayne WLS200 sprinkler pump. I was unaware it had no electric cord, but it was a replacement for an old broken pump, so we just reused the old wire. I thought this model was adaptable to 110V and 220V, but the WLS200 is not. It's 220V only, and matched what I previously had in the old set up. I had difficulty figuring out which color wire went to the connections on the pump, but after much research, I was told that it didn't matter, Just as long as you get the ground right. I would have preferred it come prewired with a 6 foot cord, to make installation a little easier. This pump is not self priming, but its super easy to prime, worked on my first attempt. We had to build the PVC connections to the water lines, so a quick trip to the hardware store was required. I'm not much of a plumbing DIY'er, but the instructions were very easy to follow. It's super heavy, made of thick cast iron, and very quiet in comparison to my old Sears pump circa 1990. I looked at the other plastic pumps, which were much lighter and self priming, but this one seems like it will last for decades. I have great water volume to my sprinkler heads and I'm running 3/4" pipe and average 6 heads per zone. My yard is looking great after 4 weeks of use.

Seems Like a Solid Pump
Used for transferring lake water to a well. Suction is approximately 10' above the suction intake and discharges through 1500 feet of 1.5 inch poly piping with approximately 25 ' in elevation gain. Initial prime took approx 40 seconds to start flowing water. Measured flow at discharge of the piping is 26.5 gpm. I have run the pump for over 5 hours in July and August and have no issues. The motor casing gets extremely hot, but the pump has not hit the thermal cutoff. I wired with 10AWG 3-wire to a 4 prong plug and run the pump off a 5000 watt Honda generator. Very pleased so far.

Excellent pump, not so good product support
I owned one of these pumps and was very pleased with it. I accidentally let it freeze, which broke to cast iron pump cover. Wayne do not supply any spare parts for this pump, so I had to buy a complete new one. I am keeping the old one as a source of parts.
