Grout Pen Black Tile Grout Paint Marker Restorer - Narrow 5mm Tip (7mL)

Wow! We are listing our house for sale and the black grout was showing dirt and a little dingy looking. I didn’t want to regrout the entire bathroom so I decided to try a grout marker. It worked better than expected! Easy to use, quicker than expected, covered well, and covered the entire bathroom with 1 marker. Very happy with how this turned out! Saved me a ton of time and hassle!

This worked perfectly for my project. I painted tiles and need something that would define the lines and this did the trick.

I used this stain to cover a dark blue grout after we updated our bathroom and the color scheme for the grout needed to be black. I am happy overall with the quality of the stain and ease of use of this product and would recommend it. The downside is the pen only contains 7 ml of stain, which doesn't go very far. Also, the pen tip (nib) tends to deteriorate when being used on coarse grout. I found that the tip was toast about the time the pen ran out of stain. I don't know if that is intelligent design or just luck. I tried not to press too hard when using the tip to extend the life of the pen tip. It is also a bit messy to use, if you over-stain onto the tile you need to get it up right away. The instructions say to use a moist cloth, but that just smeared the stain all over the place. I used my finger and a dry towel, which seemed to work the best. I think this stain would warrant a 5-star ranking if the pen barrel was larger and/or contained more stain. Come on, at give the customer a pen containing at least 10 ml, don't be cheap! If it had even 10 ml, it would increase pen coverage 30 percent and not cost the manufacturer hardly anything. I used three pens to cover approximately 70 square feet (about $30 with tax). I saw bulk grout stains containing 8 oz for sale on Amazon for as low as $30 (though some were not rated very well). BTW, for those of you who don't do metric, 7 ml is just under a quarter of an ounce (.24 oz).

UPDATE: More than a year later and I have not needed to do ANY touch ups. Love this product! Pleasantly surprised!! I'm very surprised at how long this one pen has lasted. I am 80% finished with my kitchen backsplash and still on the first pen. Every time I think "oh, this is the end", I prime it and it starts flowing again. The felt trip lost its fine point a long time ago but I'm using it on sanded grout so that is to be expected. I just went with bolder grout lines and it adds some needed contrast. The pic shows the new black grout lines on the right above the stove, old dingy "what were they thinking" brown grout (on gray tile...sure, that makes sense...) on the left. I am not a fan of the gray tile but I think the black grout takes the stage and focus away from the gray. I just ordered two more pens because I just know this one will give out at some point and I want to have a backup for touch ups.

Runs out quickly

I got the dark grey and black because the pens are relatively cheap and have a fairly long lead time. The project was for black and opaque cracked glass tiles I am using on a back splash for a bar area. I always have problems whenever I grout because I am impatient and wipe the excess off right away instead of waiting. I think this is a big cause on why my grout is always blotchy and whitish no mater the color. I love the glass tiles but after I grouted, it looked like crap. I wasn't sure on the black because it looks like using a black sharpee at first and I thought was too dark. I tried the dark grey, but was too light and did not mix with the tiles well. I was really torn what to do at this point because once I start, im totally committed. I almost elected to leave it alone, but am super happy I went for it. The grout lines were approximately 1/8 inch, but was almost impossible to keep the color off of the tile, and as the tip wore, made it worse because the tip loses its fine point. If I had anything other than glass tiles im not sure how hard it would have been to remove from the tile, but with the glass it wiped off pretty easily. The way I decided to do the job was to work on an area about one square foot at a time. The tiles are 1"x2" so there are lots of grout lines in a square foot. I essentially colored all the lines not worrying too much if I hit the tile. After the square foot was done, I used an old white sock just damp to the touch with water and scrubbed the entire surface. After I was done, the glass had a haze on it I was able to remove with a dry piece of sock. Using the damp sock at first to wipe the excess actually dulled the sharpee look and made it look more like charcoal which is what my grout color was to begin with, except now it actually was, and very uniform. Looks really good now. Very happy I decided to go for it.

Don’t waste your money I would give it zero stars if I could ! Followed the directions as specified and this product just doesn’t work !

This grout pen is a LIFESAVER! The black grout in our shower would not clean up thanks to our hard water and we had to fix it before putting our home on the market. I found this grout pen and have converted everyone I know to grout pen lovers! It’s super easy to apply, doesn’t have weird chemicals or smells, looks great after application, and is great value for the money. The only con is that you will have to reapply it every few months if you have dark grout and hard water, but that’s not an issue for me.

Excellent coverage, makes grout and tiles look new. Such fun to use too. Not sure on longevity but can always touch up again. Would recommend!

Habe den Stift bestellt, da wir in der Dusche (auf dem Boden) Kiesel haben. Die sind zwar toll, aber als kalkhaltiger Stein darf man keinen vernünftigen Reiniger verwenden und so leiden auch die Fugen, heisst irgendwann kalken sie ein wenig zu. Ursprünglich anthrazit hatten sich die Fugen zu einer nicht näher bestimmbaren Farbe entwickelt, heisst, wurden unansehnlich. Da es den Stift LEIDER nicht in anthrazit gibt - komischerweise bei keinem der Hersteller! - fiel die Wahl auf schwarz. ACHTUNG: den Stift gibt es in zwei Größen, heisst Füllmenge UND Breite der Spitze, mit sehr geringem Preisunterschied. Ich hatte zuerst den grossen=dicken Stift. Von dem was rauskommt, gleich. Nur ist die Spitze bei dem dicken Stift auch wesentlich dicker, was vor allem bei feineren Arbeiten, wie bei mir "Malen nach Zahlen zwischen den Kieseln", nicht hilft! Da empfehle ich lieber zwei "dünne" Stifte. Der dicke Stift hat eine Spitzenbreite von ca. 0,5-0,7 cm, der dünne malt zunächst mit ca. 0,2-0,3cm, bis er anfängt auszufransen, dann ein bisschen dicker. Die Stifte sind praktisch, lassen gut mit sich arbeiten. ACHTUNG: Bevor Sie den Stift für den Boden verwenden - vor allem unter der Dusche - vorher alles nochmal gründlich schrubben! Das habe ich vor dem ersten Versuch nicht gemacht und die Farbe ging relativ schnell ab. Nun mit Putzen alles schön neu "verfugt" und es scheint zu halten. Wie lange es an so undankbarer Stelle wie unter der Dusche halten wird, kann ich noch nicht sagen. Bisher macht es einen sehr guten Eindruck. Und auch wenn ein bisschen was hin und wieder nachgerarbeitet werden muss, das ist allemal einfacher, als neu zu fliesen. Empfehlenswert!

Really easy to use and works perfectly. The tile grout I was treating is black and it now looks brand new after being damaged by a bleach cleaner and losing its colour.

Kurz zur Vorgeschichte: Wir haben unser Bad neu gefliest mit dunkelgrauen Bodenfliesen und anthrazitfarbener Fugenmasse. Nachdem alles fertig war, stellte sich raus, dass eine Wasserleitung defekt ist und eine Wand wieder aufgerissen werden musste. Dadurch setzten sich Unmengen an Baustaub in den Fugen ab. Am Ende verfärbten sich diese irgendwo zwischen hellgrau-gefleckt und mittelgrau-schattiert, vom anfänglichen Anthrazit war nichts mehr zu erkennen. Nach vielen erfolglosen Putzarien mit diversen (Haus-)Mitteln (Essig, Backpulver, Klarspüler, verschiedenste Reiniger...) bin ich durch Recherche auf diesen Fugenmarker gestoßen... Und ich bin ausnahmslos begeistert! Meine Fugen sehen aus wie neu. Da es den Stift nicht in anthrazit gibt, habe ich ihn eben in schwarz bestellt und entgegen der Anleitung nach bereits 5 Minuten Einwirkzeit mit einem feuchten Tuch wieder abgewaschen und siehe da: meine Fugen sind wunderschön anthrazitfarben. Herrlich! Ich denke die Mengenangabe für 60m kommt schon grob hin, man muss halt wie bei einem Edding auch immer wieder schütteln und nachpumpen, wenn man das Gefühl hat, dass nichts mehr raus kommt. Ich hatte auf Grund der Rezensionen vorsichtshalber gleich zwei Stife gekauft, bin aber bisher mit einem ausgekommen. (Unser Bad hat 9,1qm). Außerdem habe ich die Fugen nicht fein nachgezogen sondern eher grob ausgemalt. Musste auch mehrmals mit dem Stift hin + her streichen, bis die Fuge komplett angemalt war. Nicht schlimm, wenn etwas auf die Fliesen kommt, man kann es problemlos wieder abwischen. Ich würde das Produkt ausnahmslos weiter empfehlen. Lieferung erfolgte übrigens innerhalb von 3 Werktagen.
