This was a great replacement light for my old 96 GMC which has an aftermarket bumper. It looked just like the old light and snapped into the bumper hole perfectly. The 2 wire leads worked great (for me) and I was able to splice it in and power it up in just a few minutes. The LED worked well and was much brighter than the old light.

Bought this light a little over a years ago wasn’t sure but it worked great bright enough to show whole plate (mounted on the side of plate) but not to bright to catch your eye walking around the truck. Just stoped working out of random the price was great buying two just to have extra one

This is an LED version of a commonly used light for license plates and other external lighting situations. It's designed to be mounted in a 1.25" hole. There are a couple of things you need to know that the box doesn't tell you. First, this is an LED and so polarity needs to be observed. That is to say there is a definite "+" wire and a "-" wire. Getting these reverse does not harm the lamp but it won't light either. There are two wires coming out the back of the lamp, a black wire and a white wire. The box only briefly happens to say which wire in negative. It's been my experience that typically the White wire is positive and the Black wire is negative. NOT IN THIS CASE. The positive wire is Black and the negative wire is White. Secondly the original incandesant style only had one wire (positive). The case of the lamp was negative (ground) and grounded through the metal bumper or whatever you mounted it on. The box goes on to say that the ground surface needs to be shiny and rust free. That's true, but remember that the ground isn't the mounting hole anymore. You need to find a ground wire to connect the White wire to or you need to drill a small hole and use a screw to attach the wire to ground. In terms of brightness these things aren't that bright, but they are sufficient for a license plate light. Since these things are sealed I'm looking forward to not having to take these out and clean them up once a year before inspection :)

I bought this light to replace a factory original light on a 1998 rv I just bought. The led lights are super bright compared to the old crap that was on it. I am so happy that I went with this light. **As a side note, it was really nice to have this light because it has both positive and negative wires on it. I have shopped around for led external lights and some come with only 1 wire (the negative connection is one of the screws to the frame)... I have a fiberglass body RV with no grounding frame for the screws to go through. Yes I know that I could just use a terminal end and slip my screw through it and connect the end wire to negative, but I like having the wires. I highly recommend this light to anyone looking for a very good, bright and easy to install option!
