I wish I had tried this sooner!!!
I was surprised at the quality of this flux pen! A quick brush of the wire/base to be soldered, and boom - easy joint! No mess/spilling/waste/brush of a liquid dispenser, no goop of a paste. I solder infrequently (this one pen will probably last me a year), but this will be the only way I get my flux in the future. It is slightly more expensive to use the pen applicator, but it is my opinion that the ease of use and the results more than justify the extra expense. If you solder a lot, you may wish to go another route...but I would recommend giving the pen a try. I love it and won't be going back!!! Note: When first starting, you have to push in the tip a little bit to get the flux to flow...after that, you are in business and it is smooth sailing!

Best Solder Flux Pen for the money
I used this on a recent project and was surprised that it didn't come rushing out and run all over the place. A small dab is all it took for most of parts I was assembling. It becomes tacky quickly, so it helps hold the piece in place while you set the height of the component for through hole, for surface mounts it worked equally as well, tackiness was achieved in only a few minutes. You can always tell a good soldering job when you see it wicked through the lead onto the other side, which was the case every time when I used this flux. This pen should last a person a very reasonable amount of time. Clean up was a breeze, some rubbing alcohol an cotton swab was all I needed. If your on the fence about buying this, don't be, its money well spent.

Surprised how much this helps in some situations
I'm surprised how much this helps the solder flow and wick into the joint, even with rosin-based solder. Helps with: * Stranded wire joints * Hand-soldering SMD pads (better solder wicking into joints; don't need to pre-tin pads) * Removing solder or re-soldering a joint Getting rosin to flow thru the fiber wick (too much, too little) can be tricky, so I'm docking a point for that. I usually keep a paper pad close by to start/verify flow. Also leaves more gooey residue which is only a problem in rare situations and can be easily cleaned off with isopropyl alcohol.

works like magic
I was having fits with lead free solder until I tried this is is very effective at wetting the surfaces and a little bit goes a long way. I found that if you add flux to the joint before you solder you can just get a small blob of solder on the iron and it will solder itself the minute it comes into contact. If it is a large through hole joint, it will tack it nicely allowing you to easily add more solder. If it is a small joint (30AWG wire for protoboards) it will fully solder the joint in seconds. I usually remove the flux with IPA, but not sure if that is necessary based on some of the other reviews. I have not tried it with solder wick, but based on how it wicks to large copper pads I expect it would work well for solder wick also. I do agree with the other reviewers about the tip being too large. Luckily I deal with mostly through hole and don't have tight spaces to get into. If you have been soldering without a flux pen dont hesitate to get this, you will wonder how you got along without it.

Leaks
The cap leaks, which is obnoxious. But it works ok. I cleaned it as best I could with isopropyl alcohol. Flux aggregates thickly around the cap, making it difficult to remove. However, it is very easy to apply to pins and pads, and it does the job well. While I would prefer a non-leaky pen, it's not a showstopper.

Great Flux Pen
This is the first flux pen I have used and I was doubtful mainly because of the reviews I read. That being said this is a great product once you get the hand of priming the tip.. It's a bit hard to get the tip loosened up to get the flux flowing but with some gentle pressure using a towel and hand pressure on the felt tip slowly work the tip back into the body and it will start flowing. After that you are good to go. I use it on all my soldering now and it has made a world of difference in the quality of my solder joints especially the fine electronic parts I use for building mini-quads.

A permanently full flux pen you'll never be able to actually use.
Despite repeated attempts to readjust the tip, I have never once managed to get any amount of flux out of this pen. I've debating cutting it open in an attempt to get something usable out of it, but that's honestly more of a hassle than I feel like putting up with for this little item. Upon arrival, the tip felt extremely dried out and while it did smell vaguely of flux, no amount of warming, wetting, or any other sort of external force applied to the tip has managed allow the contents inside to seep out and be of any use to me. I bought this since I don't do a terribly large amount of soldering and as such any bulk amount of flux seemed like it would just be a waste, but it seems that going with an open container may be the only way to actually make use of it since this pen will surely never release any.

the flux itself works great..
the flux itself works great.....but if you hold the pen upside down for longer than 1-2 seconds the liquid flux will just start dripping out

Great for stubborn small solderpads
Sometimes I had to solder a small pad and my solder wasn't flowing ideal. This is a quick and easy way to ensure the solder wets the pad entirely. According to the manufacturer, it's on-corrosive, non-conductive, does not absorb water and is fungal resistant.

Worked Great
First time I have used a flux pen (used liquid flux in a bottle before). Once you get it flowing, it was great. Easy to apply only where needed and worked with the solder as well as can be expected.

Good, but not as convenient as I thought
Convenient but difficult to operTe with one hand (given that the lid should likely be kept on so it doesnโt dry out).

I swear by this.
Great Flux. Used it for years for mini / micro soldering. Does dry out after a couple years.

Been using this for a couple years now and works great. The cap has gotten a bit gummed up from the residual flux on the tip of the pen when being put away.
