A great set of basic Legos for flexibility and creative play
How can you not love Legos? I mean, I guess the part where they inevitably wind up all over the floor to serve as weapons against bare feet, but besides that (well-known) hazard, they're just great. They are durable, they're fun, kids spend hours playing with them, they're a creative outlet. I'm not sure what people did before Lego, honestly. My 3-year-old recently graduated to regular Legos from Duplo (fine motor is his priority in terms of interests) and this set has been a great base for him. I have a love-hate relationship with the sets that are meant to build specific scenes; perhaps once he's older, I'll feel different, but one lost piece and you're doomed to hours of frustration. Also, these more basic sets allow for more open creative play. This assortment has attractive colors and a good selection of pieces, so it's possible for him to make "Lego town!" It does come with a booklet illustrating ideas to make; this, in 3yo's world, is called the "Lego map" and exists to be paged through until it falls apart and otherwise ignored. The set has enough pieces to build a fairly large variety of items, and to have several sculptures on the go at once, but it is, as advertised, a supplement - I have the feeling once he gets bigger and his projects get bigger, we're going to be buying a larger base set. Still, for the price, I highly recommend this.

GREAT STARTER SET THAT ISN'T HUGE!
My kids have several Lego sets (Star Wars, Princesses, Lego Friends, etc.) and they absolutely love them. They're super fun to build, and they get tons of play once they're built. The only downside of the sets is that once they're built, nobody ever wants to take them apart. We got this set for my son for his 4th birthday so he could build, and rebuild, and rebuild a zillion times over. Both he and my 6 year old daughter absolutely love it!! This is a great starter set that comes with mostly small pieces. They come in every color of the rainbow, as well as brown, white, black, clear and some opaque colors. By far my kids love the eyeball pieces the most. They build robots and monsters and all kinds of things. I will say, 300 Legos sounds like a lot. In actuality this set doesn't look that big. There are plenty of pieces to play and have tons of fun with, but when they're in a pile on the floor it's a fairly small pile. Wasn't an issue for us, but worth noting. I would highly recommend this starter set along with some of the other similar sets. They're wonderful for imagination, creativity, engineering, motor skills...you name it!

Great Value for Good Variety of Classic Bricks
My wife and I purchased several different sets of the LEGO Classic Creative line to put the bricks into goodie bags for my son's birthday. The price/brick ratio is reasonable even at straight retail price and it seemed like a great way to give out a handful of Legos to the kids attending the party. But when we bought and opened the boxes we couldn't help but building all of the mini-builds in the instruction booklets. Of the LEGO Classic Creative Bright Supplement , the LEGO Classic Medium Creative Brick Box , and the "Little" LEGO Classic Creative Bricks , this set was my son's favorite. He loved the dinosaur, the shark, and the sub but his absolute favorite was the robot. Of all the mini-builds of those four sets he chose to keep that one. We intended to divide the bricks up but in the end, due to the great brick selection in these sets, we gave each child one of the mini-builds but kept the extra pieces for ourselves. (I also wrote a review for the other Classic Creative Set (the LEGO Classic Creative Bright Supplement) which sums up how I feel about this set as well.)

Watch those imaginations at work!
It was hard to picture how many legos would be in here. The box was about the size of a sheet of paper and 2" thick. I probably should've purchased a bigger package. However, legos are great and my son is making the most of these by free-building a city. He has come up with some great creations on his own, rather than using a kit (which he typically has in the past). This is a great product to get imaginations going!

Awesome Value
Have been looking through the Lego Classic sets to start adding some more basic bricks to my collection so that I will have generic legos for free-play when my son gets old enough. The entire parts list can be found on the official LEGO website, but overall this came with a fair number of larger bricks for the price: 2x3 (15), 2x4 (20), 2x6 (8), 2x8 (2), 1x4 (16 ; 4 have lego dots on the side surface in addition to top), 1x6 (6), Plus tons more! The only things this set doesn't have are flat pieces of any kind (other than the few small decorative / slanted smooth pieces) , wheels/doors/windows/etc. This set really is what it says - a brick supplement that comes in a variety of colors and seems to be great value for the price. Looking forward to using it with LEGO Education Small Building Plates Set 4646267 (22 Pieces) and some of my other loose legos to build some neat things. Might even pick up another set or two, especially on sale

They get instructions for building a few little things. Not like Lego sets from long ago where we just free-style built stuff bur if you had a few different ones you could still do that. I got for a 7 yr old they get a little frustrated following instructions but with a little help was fine.
