Decent cans for a decent price
Overall these are a great pair of budget cans worth picking up. Build quality is fantastic with nearly all load bearing components being made of metal and construction overall is clean. I have seen some other reviews stating that they don't hold up over time, though I'm yet to see this personally I wont rule it out yet as I have owned these for barely a day. Sound quality is great. A bit muddy in the mids but crisp highs and great bass. That being said however, while these are great for casual listening and music production, the Samson sr850's simply blow them out of the water when it comes to casual listening, and for $7 less at the time of this review. I'd been using the sr850's for the last 3 years though became frustrated with the build quality after my 3rd pair and needed something with a detachable cable. The sound is by no means disappointing however, and you won't feel like you've made poor purchase based on it at all. It IS good, however the sr850's simply do better in casual listening and soundstage. This is coming from someone that has tried headphones from $10-$250. Carrying case is pretty and protective, the cable provided is also fantastic and high quality.

Foldable, portable, transparent sound.
Needed to replace my old broken studio cans but wanted a pair which I could carry around a lot more easily than previously was the case. Not many of those on the market but I chanced on these AKG245's which seemed to fit the bill. I plumped for these as I use my phones for radio broadcasting rather than mastering so I like the open backs because my ears don't get too hot on a three hour show and the studio is quiet enough that I don't have to worry about the sound leakage from them. Also, the phones are largely metal rather than plastic so are likely to prove very sturdy. I do a minimum of 2 shows per week, quite often more, and prefer to use my own cans rather than any which may be laying around the studio. This means they are in and out of the gadget bag on a regular basis. Strength and compactness are therefore important. These AKG's fold nicely and easily fit into the drawstring bag which came with the other accessories in the box. I occasionally do live DJ gigs and these will be much more suitable for those jobs compared to the larger non foldables I had used to avoid buying another rarely required expensive pair of DJ cans. Now, on to sound quality and comfort. Having worn them last week over a three hour period I am impressed with the very level frequency response and the transparency and openness of the sound from the 50mm drivers. I had read much about the accuracy of AKG's professional range and have to say I am not disappointed with the sound at all. Very easy to listen to for long periods. Relatively comfortable to wear although I did find that the inner diameter of the pads were a bit smaller than I'm used to. I will probably consider looking at replacing these with a pair of Brainwavz pads as these are slightly thicker and have a larger central diameter hole than the OEM pads. Self-adjusting headband and my head and ears weren't hot after all that time - may not be for everyone though as I have a small head for a man. Price was amazing and the sound was every bit as good as my old Studiospares open back cans.

A great set of affordable, almost reference headphones
Soundwise, these are head and shoulders above most other headphones at this price point - nice and flat in the mids, with some bass but not too much. They don't really cancel out too much background noise, and they also bleed a little, especially at higher volumes, so you might want to look elsewhere if you're wanting some headphones that keep you in your own world. I use these with a small USB DAC and the resulting sound quality, even from Spotify, is great. That these headphones fold up is a bonus for throwing into your bag or just keeping the desk a bit tidier. The cable is also removable, using a mini-XLR into the headphones, so you can easily replace that with a different length or style if you wish. The headphones also articulate nicely in all directions, so you can get a good fit on your head.

Excellent build quality and premium feel.
For the price I wasn't expecting these to be as great as they are. My girlfriend needed a relatively cheap pair of headphones that folded away. I use AKG K550's but they were too big and expensive for her, but because I've been happy with AKG I decided to check if they did any folding headphones. The K175's were only a quarter of the price of my K550's, but they nonetheless have a premium feel about them and have some advantages over the k550's 1. Unlike the K550's, the K175's fold away easily and come with a nice waterproof carrying bag. 2. The K175's come with a detachable coiled mini-xlr cable which can be replaced. The K550 (mark 2 onward) also comes with a detachable mini-xlr cable, but not the coiled kind. I actually find myself wondering where I can buy another of the coiled cables. Whilst I do prefer over ear headphones, these sound really good and have a similar build quality to the K550's. Other than coming in cheaper packaging I can't imagine how it's possible for these to be as good as they are.

Good quality and Natural sound

Great sound, not far from the k271, but with a bit warmer sound. The quality seems great at first, actually really impressive. After about two weeks of use the pads started breaking down, and after about 6 month the whole construction came apart. What seemed like solid metal rods, like the pair of metal rods holding everything together turned out to be hollow press-fitted metal tubes. You need to treat them like they were made of glass. It took me a decade to wear out a pair of K271 MkII, and only six month to wear out this pair. They are very loose fitting and would only fit a large head, so they're perfect if you have a larger head and feel that other headphones give too much pressure. I might get a second pair just because of this single reason.

In meinem Fall Denon AV Anlage....
