great vent solution for certain types of 5, 7 gal & similar plastic containers
Perfect alternative to the yellow snap plastic container vent caps that might want to be used on gas cans or where vent cap has been lost or is less secure on 7 gal and similar water containers. Durable and secure seal and the cap won’t get lost. For a new install, drilled a small guide hole in thickest part of the can to start (where the vent has been omitted) and used a reamer and small shop vac to catch shavings. Reamed just to point where threads on the petcock would catch. In my opinion, this petcock is the best way to go. Smallest part of the threads at the tip measure .52" and .54" below the hex nut with a digital caliper. In my opinion, there might be insufficient material left for a straight across conversion of old vent cap to a brass petcock in the same hole. With care though, it could be made to work with an adequate permanent sealant. This is something you do at your own risk.

Works well
It works well but didn’t serve my intended purpose. I made a stainless compressed air tank and wanted to use this as a drain. The only problem was that it would leak at around 150 psi. Pretty sure if you are using this in your radiator then you wouldn’t experience this problem or that high of a pressure.

Good but could be better
Good replacement for my air compressor but has air leaks if not cranked closed with extra force. I used thread tape to ensure with fit. I had to use pliers in order to get it closed enough to stop the air leak. Since these are mass produced issues happen but it does work and do what it's supposed to

Came very close to breaking it with pliers trying to make it stop dripping, unsure if it can ever be opened again

The reason many people are reporting slow leaks is because the sealing surface is metal on metal. Designers were too cheap to install a rubber O ring or similar gasket. Too bad because it is otherwise of good quality. Returned to Amazon.
