Invictus is based on a combination of two books by John Carlin - Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Made a Nation. The Invictus DVD begins with Nelson flawlessly played by Morgan Freeman who has been released from prison and then four years later becomes the President of South Africa. Racial division between the black and whites in South Africa is a great divide to cross and unite people. The solution before Mandela to calm the racial unrest is the upcoming Rugby World Cup that was going to be hosted by South Africa. He meets with the captain of the team François Pienaar, played by Matt Damon and tells him that they need to win the World Cup anyhow. The Invictus full movie is a dramatic representation of the period when Mandela went out of his way for his own people.This Invictus full film is beautifully directed by Clint Eastwood. Morgan Freeman gracefully plays his part as Nelson Mandela so convincingly, it is hard to believe at the end of the movie that he in reality is not Mandela. The rest of the movie shows how Mandela with his experiences in prison teaches the Rugby team and Peinaar and motivates them. Between all of this happening, Mandela shares with Peinaar a British Poem, Invictus, that helped him get through his time in prison. Peinaar is influenced and motivated by Mandela hugely and works hard with the team in the finale of the rugby tournament when they pitched against their arch-rivals New Zealand. Get the Invictus 2010 movie to find out if Peinaar's team succeeds in winning the game and if Mandela's dream of a united nation comes true.

I learned a lot from this movie, I knew about Nelson Mandela before, this movie showed some incite I didn't know, it was well done.

It's 1995 and Nelson Mandela (Freeman) has just been elected the first democratically elected black president of South Africa. Not surprisingly, his supporters see this as the ultimate opportunity for pay back to the white community for all the years of oppression. But Mandela is a different kind of leader. He believes in working hard to unite all the people and forgiving those who have harmed him and his people. Everyone assumes Mandela will replace the white leadership of the struggling national rugby team with his own. However, Mandela sees this as an opportunity to unify the country through sports. He commits himself to working with the existing white leadership and particularly the captain of the rugby team played by Matt Damon. He challenges Damon to rise to the occasion and capture the World Cup which they are hosting. He is taking a great risk with the future of his leadership. Based on the true story of Nelson Mandela and South Africa, it is part history, part leadership lesson and a moving sports drama. Highly recommend.
