Very informative book. I am happy to have this book.Would like to by another book, " perchaiyan" by poet Sahir Ludhianvi.Do you have it. Please let me know the cost.Thank you

Interesting but not, in my sister's view, a really efficient book for learning to play the harmonium. She is looking for a more complete method.

Step-by-step basic lessons on everything a new player needs to know about the instrument, the basic notes and scale every beginner must familiarize with, and most of all, the fingering. If the correct fingering is not learned in the beginning, progress will be nearly impossible. This book is an excellent start for anyone who wants to learn the theory and beginning practice of Indian music in English.

The same book can be purchased for $11.58 elsewhere! Pankaj 2000 edition with the same number of pages, so I imagine it is the same. There are also many other "learn to play harmonium books" / maybe minus film songs/ I gave it one star because of the unfair price, have not seen the book yet/. I do like Ram Avtar Vir's books in general and for the long time there weren't many theory books on Indian music written in English. Well , times have changed , so shop around..

I wonder how some people have given this book five star rating. it has many typographical errors leading to wrong definitions of raagas and Thats. All ten Thats listed show same notes which can not be true. I am not a music expert but comparing with other music books I have, it seems there are many typographical error. The publisher or the proof reader should have done a better QA/QC job. I was expecting more for my money but was very disappointed when I received this book by mail.
