The sons shoot competitively. We'll be on the road for about a month throughout the summer and it's always a chore finding some way to set up to clean/fix guns in hotels, Airbnbs, barracks, etc. I tried using the Plano box with the attachable gun rests. I like the box but some of these target rifles are in the 12 - 15 pound range and the little box is just not solid enough to use with a bore brush on a cleaning rod. I'm going this route now. For starters, Tipton Ultra Gun Vise comes out of the box assembled. Zero screws, nuts, or bolts to assemble. You won't be hunting for your #20 Torx bit. Don't take that for granted -- I truly appreciated it in this day and age. The trays and clamps are packed in plastic bags between the legs. Take them out of the bags, pop them on the rails, and you're ready to rock. Dropping the legs is as simple as pushing on the locking levers. It comes with an instruction book that I did flip through. If you're getting this for an AR, the included AR mag well attachment is really cool and the myriad uses of it are covered in the book. I'll probably use it at some point. Pretty sure it won't replace a literal bench vise for torquing on AR barrels, though. Lots of people asked in the questions section. Everyone who says this thing is massive is correct. It's longer than your rifle and it's at perfect counter height for a pain-free back. 20 lbs is enough weight to keep it steady while working but not so much weight that I can't haul it up a flight of stairs or stow it in an equipment trailer. With the amount of gear we already haul, this isn't bad. It's about the same size and weight as a rifle flight case when the legs are stowed. As for criticism, I don't have much. The clamp screws were a little stiff at first. A couple of drops of silicone oil loosened them up a bit and I imagine they'll get looser over time. Better to be too tight out of the box than too loose. I wish there were some sort of box or bag to transport it in but I'll figure something out. Bottom line: you get what you pay for in this case. It looks and feels tough. Everything is pretty easy to figure out. I'd totally recommend this.

Arrived in good condition, had previously seen the product in sporting goods store actually being used for scope mounting etc. so the product was as expected. Other reviewers have complained that the vise is easily broken when installing a barrel or buffer tube on an ar15 style rifle, this is not what this gun vise is meant to be used for. Read the instructions and product description!!. It is great for installation of scopes and red dot sights as well as cleaning, bore sighting and bore scope barrel inspection etc. When used for its intended purpose this vise should give you a lifetime worth of service and then some. I'm very happy with my vise.

Arrived quickly, the AMAZON way. The product is as described. You will not be disappointed. It is lightweight, durable and is very easy to go from hanging on the wall to being set up; it takes seconds. It is very easy to adjust the clamps to accommodate any rifle. There is an adapter for certain AR's that makes it a breeze. The functionality is there plus. Cleaning is now a joy; IT IS A VERY WELL THOUGHT OUT VISE. You will not be disappointed, that cannot be said enough. It will make your life easier.

I consider one of the top ten buys on Amazon I've ever made. Easy to set up chest high so no clearing a spot on the work bench. I can approach either end at will nice adjusting features are remarkable. I hung mine on the wall so it's out of the way when folded up. I could even bring it to the range and do my cleaning there. This gun vice has all Non-marring griping pads and large enough for any rifle. I'm really thrilled with it.

This gun vise is very well made and was much better than expected. It folds up to take very little space, the gun clamps work well holding your weapons securely. This vice is heavy and will not move around when you are using it. Can't go wrong with this vice which comes ready to go.

Excellent product have been wanting one for awhile finally broke down and bought one. Was not disappointed at all works with all my rifles and shot guns and even will hold all my revolvers. Really works we’ll have not had any issues with stripped threads grips the guns very well. Built very well heavy enough it don’t move around on you but you can still fold it up and hang it out of the way.

Excellent, solid vise and stand. Can not imagine needing anything more. Lifetime investment.

It’s heavy. The knobs don’t work perfectly. I still use it. The legs don’t come off to make it lighter

I have read the reviews before ordering this gun vice . Mine arrived and was in excellent condition, assembled easily and works as expected from Tipton. I suggest that the quality concerns people have experienced are due damage caused during shipping, or seller error regarding returned items. Once I set up the vice, I gently checked the knobs. I used a silicone lubricant I have for non-metal parts for Airsoft guns on all of them. Night and day difference when I was done. When the vice is in storage for a period of time, the knobs and moving vice rotation parts become stiff. Be smart and patient and work the parts in gently. Tipton makes quality products for firearms and Airsoft enthusiasts. Don't let seller errors downgrade their products, it's unfair to a great company.

Works great and very sturdy

Very nice stand. Heavy and sturdy.folds down to minimize space. For me the only downfall would be the weight if you want to carry from place to place. I am using mine in the basement only to clean and do work on my rifle and shotgun. Perfect.
