bigger batches for less cooking
Amazing slow cooker for this price! I needed to upgrade from my one-quart slow cooker to cook large batch lunches for two for the week, but didn't need to do a lot of temperature-sensitive things like roasts. Excellent results so far with chili, curried chicken, and pot roast. Surprisingly easy to handle, despite its large capacity, and handsome on the counter. Lid seals firmly and clasps appear to be solid, though I haven't taken it on a road trip (yet?). Easy to clean.

Great Slow Cooker - Highly Recommended!
Summary Review: A fantastic basic slow cooker. Simple to use with high, low, and warm settings, this cooker is larege enough to handle everything I’ve tried to cook in it. Standard recipes I’ve used have all listed the necessary cooking time perfectly.Pros:• Large capacity• Simple to use; basic controls• Even heating; recipe times always work perfectly• Easy cleanup in the dishwasher• Great value for the priceCons:• A bit unwieldy in storage due to lid clipsI bought the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6-Quart Slow Cooker (33262) five years ago and must say it has performed beautifully, especially considering the price. It gets heavy use from me, once or twice a week EVERY week. It’s big enough for me to cook just about everything in it, from 6 quarts of chili to a good-sized roast. The clips on the side are used to secure the lid when you transport the slow cooker (not used when cooking), and have worked well the time or two that I’ve used them. For standard sloshing around in the car it has been fine with no leaks at all.I’ve found that following many recipes I find on the Internet, the suggested cook time works fine, with everything cooked through but not over-cooked. I’ve cooked all your standard slow cooker recipes in this, from beef stew to chili to cheese dip, and everything’s come out perfectly. As an added bonus, Hamilton Beach’s website has great recipes, especially their Slow Cooker Gridiron Chili, with which I won the annual chili cook-off at work. I routinely store leftovers in the fridge still in the crock with the included lid on top; the rubber gasket seals it just fine. Cleanup is super simple, too. Just rinse out the crock and the lid and stick them in the dishwasher. The only drawbacks I’ve seen over the years are it takes up a good bit of storage in my medium-sized apartment kitchen cabinet, mostly caused by the clips for the lid, which stick up and out to the sides.Overall I’m very pleased with this slow cooker, and if I was in the market for another one I’d buy the Hamilton Beach Stay or Go 6-Quart Slow Cooker again without hesitation. Highly recommended!

Will cook non stop for days as needed
I use this mainly for making bone broth and needed something to simmer for 2 - 3 days at a time. This works very well, it does get a little bit hotter than I would like (I want a slightly slower simmer), but it works well and my bone broth cooks perfectly, boosting my husbands post surgery healing. The cleanup is easy with the removable pot and I love the locking lid so if I need to take a dish to a party it's easy. I highly recommend this.

Satisfied
Overall, the product does what it says. It heats up in low or high (no medium). They have a warm setting, but that's not to be used to cook. The first time I used it, there was a slight plastic odor smell, but overnight I cooked chili and the next morning the kitchen smelled like chili only. The size is decent. As stated, the lid does sit very loosely while cooking, and there does seem to be maybe a centimeter gap. There are two vent holes. There are secure straps for transporting. I do admit the metal for outside is very lightweight and thin. The actual crock pot you cook your food in is heavy and sturdy. Easy to wash and clean. I wanted something simple and affordable, so this works.

Great if you're on a budget
This is a 6 quart size crockpot so it is pretty standard for holding anything a small family would need to eat. I personally cook for two people so I am fortunate enough to keep leftovers for the next day lunch. The slow cooker has worked great so far in all the different recipes I have tried. Some full veggie, some full meat, some combos, and even ones with cheese involved. The food stays moist, the house doesn't get hot, it's so easy to meal prep and dishwasher safe so it's a breeze to clean up.The price is great, I haven't taken it to go yet so I can't speak for that feature, but I am really happy with this.

Not fancy, but does the job well
I specifically chose not to order a slow cooker with lots of bells and whistles after reading reviews from people who claimed that their slow cooker would occasionally just turn off for no reason. This manual slow cooker just gets the job done. You can cook a lot of food at once in 6 quarts. The locking mechanism gives me peace of mind when transporting it in the car. The removable crock makes cleaning easier than my last slow cooker.I was slightly worried by reviews that claimed that the rubber seal made the food taste horrible, but this has not been a problem for me at all. I have cooked in this many times now, and I haven't had a single problem. The outside of it does get hot, but I think that's unavoidable for a slow cooker. Just be careful and keep it out of the reach of kids.I definitely recommend this slow cooker.

Hamilton Beach slow cooker? A WINNER!
We did a LOT of online shopping before deciding on this one. If you don't already know about it, AVOID the $270 slow cooker from All-Clad. Many people have noted the nonsitck lining bubbles and peels on the All-Clad unit. We enjoyed cooking with a Crockpot for many years, but this Hamilton Beach unit has a removable and (obviously) durable ceramic lining which is easily removed for cleaning. Be sure to maintain a good grip. You know -- slippery when wet. Our first use was for corned beef, a little too much to cover with water completely, but the heat dissipation was good enough to minimize the inevitable drying of the small exposed part. Excellent value for the dollar. We've only used it once, but it's also true we've been slow cookers (?) for many years. Good luck in your shopping. BTW, read the directions thoroughly. It's very possible even the most experienced cook can learn a bit.
