AlphaGV4MPPD GV Backer Pad 4" Fits on Makita GV5000 Sander

I modified this tool to make a foam padded sanding wheel for hook and loop sheets with the new mesh fabric design. The threaded male stud was unnecessary due to the fact I use it chucked in a keyless chuck drill. I glued a 3/4" foam pad cut from a medium density foam and used contact cement to attach it to the pad and then velcro material cemented to the foam. Works great for sanding large curves of bowls and hollow vessels on my lathe. This is a sturdy well made device so don't hesitate to buy one if it fits your workshop needs.

This threads right in to my GV5010 sander's spindle. I have been looking for a hook-and-loop backer pad ever since I got my sander (which works great, by the way). Makita wants you to buy their screw-on sandpaper and backer plates, but hook-and-loop is so much easier and less expensive (many sanders use hook-and-loop, so there's a lot of competition for sandpaper and polishing pads in this configuration). Good product. Works as advertised.
