Jackson JS Series Dinky JS22 - Natural Oil with Amaranth Fingerboard

Great guitar, especially the neck. I wasn't expecting this. I just wanted a pointy guitar again like I had back in the 90's. You WILL have to change out the tuning keys, but that is pretty much standard on anything under 500 bucks. The rest of the hardware was just fine. I used Guyker locking tuners, and they were a direct fit and solved that problem. Lowered the action, only 1 high fret-used a fret dressing file, and a small tricorner file on the fret edges for a few strokes each way, and it's just like the late 80's-early 90's big logo Charvel/Jacksons with the bound necks. Pickups were very hot, if you are into thrash metal they do that very well, I changed these out with an old GFS PAF clone set I had leftover from a parts build a few years ago to tone it down some. No issues with the electronics, nice and quiet. The tremelo came "decked", and you had to stand on it to get it to move, so I backed the claw out about 1 inch, removed the center spring and moved the 2outer springs to the outside claws, raised it up about 2 mm, retuned it and lowered the string saddles down some more to get the action lowered again, and decided the trem worked great, so I ordered a Graph-Tec nut and a SPEED NutBar (because of the high E string angle on ALL Jackson headstocks, wish I had this in the 90's-it's roller bearings that correct the string angle). In all, I would highly recommend this for a beginner over a Squire, because you are not going to outgrow it-and the high grade neck means it's MUCH easier to play, so practicing is FUN, so you will get better QUICKER.

This guitar is perfect for my small size (90 lbs female, size 5 shoe and ring) has a beautiful solid body wood with a resonance so beautiful I can make harmonics on almost every fret. Smooth, rounded frets, easy to intonate. 24 frets for a short scale that all maintain pitch accuracy, two double humbucker pickups allow for sweet sound; machine heads are a bit crappy and fender style bridge allows for relative detuning, but overall, thankful that a "my size" high quality guitar exists and is comparable to the Carvin, Godin, Fernandez. Perfect if you like fingerpicking on a thick neck and hammering for better resonance. Natural wood body means the wood quality is there, rather than hidden under imperfections filled with bondo and/or glued under paint. Every smaller sized human should buy this guitar. Definitely recommend . One flaw: the guitar came with wiring imperfections I had to correct by opening up the back and using an ice pick to free some incorrectly placed wiring; one wire was tangled in another, both exposed. There was no sound until this was corrected.

Hard to beat the value on this guitar. Solid straight out of the box. Packaging was great. Super fast neck. Very light weight. It took a top spot in a collection with some serious competition. Value is incredible. Wish this was an option when I started playing 40 years ago.

I have nicer guitars, but loved the natural wood body and the shape of this Jackson. If you want to shred, this guitar rocks! But if you want to play a variety of music on a budget, get a Squier Stratocaster first, then a Squier Telecaster, and then this Jackson. I've enjoyed playing a new style of music along with my usual blues and rock, but I would never pick this over a strat or tele. That said, this guitar is GORGEOUS and a high-quality build for the price. Highly recommend it - I get compliments all the time on the natural wood. My only complaint is that the body was three pieces of wood glued together, so there is a small noticeable difference in the different pieces, but that's nitpicking for a guitar in this price range with quality sound.

Let’s start with the good: lightning fast delivery, excellent double packaging for shipping protection, perfectly low action out of the box for minimal setup besides tuning and plays well. Frets are smooth with no sprout or grit, and the pot knobs feel solid when turned. Also, a great looking guitar with simple natural wood grain and a satin neck for fast chord changes. Now for the bad: tuning required several adjustments to the machine heads, the wood has small but visible knots in the grain and it’s so lightweight I barely know I’m holding a guitar (which might be a plus for some). Overall, a solid instrument at good value especially for a beginner, even if slightly better specs and performance can be had at the same price point. I was pleasantly surprised how much I like the shape and contour of the headstock. No regrets for adding this one to my collection.

I have been in and out of guitar playing for 20 years. Never learned how to play just attempted to. Some how with this guitar everything seems and feels more fluid. It is very light comparing to my old esp ec-50. Cons. Factory strings are very light Mabe a 8-40? I was getting a lot Of string buzz until I replaced them with 10-46. You mis replace the factory strings. They suck. Pickups sound heavy, warm and deep. Rear pickup sounds sharp like a band without bass, center position and front pickup sounds fat and warm like a band with bass. Perfect guitar. Get it if you are new to metal or a metal head who jumps in and out or a metal guy full time.

Frets extremely sharpe edges need sanding , in my opinion that’s on the Company to send out a Quality product that consumer doesn’t instantly become a craftsman / repair center .......HELLO ! ?

Ghetto guitar. Unfinished in one big spot. They told me it was within “factory intolerances” and wasn’t inspected and acceptable. Sad times.

I love the sounds I can get from this guitar, it's more versatile than I expected. I bought it so I can start to learn how to shred at hard rock and heavy Metal, but even playing blues rock and country rock it sounds wonderful. The neck is built for fast playing, now I just need to work the dexterity in my fingers, haha. But seriously, I find it easy to play. I just needed to adjust the truss rod in the neck when I took it out of the box because the strings were buzzing slightly, but that's normal given that it was new and unopened. It was pretty easy because the tool comes with the guitar to adjust it, but you will need a small screwdriver, that is not included. It's a minor procedure, from then on, I was up and running... my fingers along the neck. I am truly blown away by this guitar, very happy with my purchase.

Great guitar. I bought this in a natural color, I had a great experience and it plays great. Although the pickups are not benchmark, the sound quality is quite good and has a pretty punchy sound.
