Great for grilling, a bit big for stovetop use
I bought this mitt to replace one that my dog discovered and destroyed. The picture is a bit deceiving in that it looks like a normal size oven Mitt. I admit that I didn't investigate to read the actual physical measurements. I think this is made for a person with very large hands. It is a good inch wider than any other Mitt that I have and it comes nearly half way up my arm. That makes it great for grilling but a bit odd when just picking up an iron pot from the stove. The Mitt is thick and there isn't any change of burning yourself. It also appears to be water resistant as the water just beads on it and runs off.

Great oven mitt!!
I bought a pair of these to use with my smoker and am very happy with them. I have seen complaints about the length of them (about 15") but that is what I want for getting a pork butt out of the smoker. I also like the fact that you can use them on either hand as the heatproof material is on both sides. They are thick and you don't have a rally good feel for what you're picking up but with one on each hand it is NO problem! I have never felt my hand getting warm at all when removing something from the oven or smoker. I would highly recommend these mitts!!

Stiff glove
I bought these gloves for my cast iron dutch oven which gets really hot. The gloves protect you from the heat wonderfully, but they are so stiff that I find I have trouble holding onto the pot. I really have to watch what I'm doing because unlike my other (less heat resistant) gloves, I can't feel what I'm holding. It's kind of like when your leg goes numb and you can't feel your foot, but this is your hand.I gave it four stars because it really does protect you from the heat which is what it's intended to do, but I think it's a little dangerous when I'm holding the pot that I can't quite feel how tight a grip I have on it. My husband doesn't seem to have as much of an issue as I do, so maybe it's more about the strength you need to overcome the stiffness.

Great Quality
Received these and instantly discovered that I hadn't read the whole advertisement. The gloves are truly great quality - which why I gave them a 5, but what I didn't think to check was the size. These are huge. They'd be good for backyard grilling, stoking up a fireplace, or, if you're lucky to have one, putting pizzas in and out of a stone oven. :) Just a warning to check the size...these are too big to store in my kitchen - to ackward to handle small dishes.

16" long, not 13"
I ordered this product, but am returning it.The description here is wrong - the mitt is about 16" long, not 13" - cut straight across.Which means it goes a long way up your arm - not just covering your hand and wrist.Which means you can't put it on if you are wearing a sweater or sweatshirt because the opening is fairly narrow.Basically, this is for people who are only wearing shirtsleeves/shortsleeves who are reaching deeply into really hot ovens or over large cooking grills. On the other hand, the mitt quality appears very high. If it were shorter, I'd keep it, but since I can't put it on because I live in New England and wear a sweater in the winter, I am returning it.

Found out the Hard Way that normal oven mittens won't work
While trying out one of the Lodge Cast Iron 10.25 inch collection I was making a 'test run' with the heaviest pot, I found that the oven mitten I was using would work for only 2 to 3 seconds before scorching hot heat from the heavy cast iron pot would start seeping through. (the blister on my thumb is healing nicely, and that pot was lightly loaded so the weight of the pot alone did this.) To avoid more blisters I ordered 2x heat muffin from Lodge. (Do be aware that the price posted on Amazon is for a SINGLE mitten) Using them prevents this issue.Attached image shows the actual size of those mittens, compared with the Lodge Cast Iron cookware its intended to be used with. These Mittens are nearly oversized, (I have small hands) so I wouldn't expect any issues other ham-fisted pot users

oversized for our hands - no sizes to choose from
we basically use this to handle hot utensils from lodge like cast iron dutch oven, able skiver and round griddle on a ceramic stove top.The cotton inner lining is good. It protects from heat. But is very big for our hands and not comfortable.Lodge(manufacturer) should make these available for different hand sizes.I ordered 2 pieces, but now use only 1 piece.

Great construction
Great construction, solid materials, good padding, nice length, but narrower at the mouth than I was expecting. I might have to make a 2 inch cut at the inside seam to allow my hands to get right in, not that I'm Popeye or anything. Other than that though, very nice mitts.
