Ordered this for some friends newly arrived in the US. They were super pleased to see the quality of the dictionary with Farsi script below each image. The organization of the dictionary is very helpful for them, areas of culture and daily life. Their children recently started school, the vocab pages with school scenes and word lists were the first ones they turned to. One comment of mine: the script is in a medium-light blue. They seem to have no trouble reading it, I found the script hard to make out at that size and in that color. A darker blue would be helpful, perhaps.

I teach adult ESL classes and my students love Oxford Picture Dictionaries. Now that a Farsi bilingual edition is available, I get a lot of requests for this book. It may not be good for learning Farsi, but it's a great tool for learning to read English, if you have some knowledge of phonics, or if you have a teacher or some other source of correct English pronunciation. Great for in-class study and at-home review. It's nicely organized, and the pictures are very detailed.

The OPD shines in providing practical vocabulary in American English with pictorial support for all kinds of everyday needs. The situation-based color-coded sections are easy to locate, the labeling is clear, and there are two word indexes in the back of the book, one in English and one in the second language (for the bilingual editions). I recommend the OPD to all my students.

This is a very useful book. I didn't realize, though, that it is really meant for Farsi speakers to learn English. So the English words are all there and easy to read and the Farsi script is very tiny and in a light color below it. It makes it hard to make out the letters sometimes. In spite of that, and in spite of the practice study questions, which are to practice the English, the book is really well laid out with a lot of vocabulary and great pics. I really love it. Just wish the Farsi part was a little darker or larger.

I was excited to get this book.Although I can already read, listen to, and speak sentences and paragraphs in the Farsi language, I I bought the book as an aid for others. Now I don't want to share it for long periods of time because I like using it for myself.The price is great!Would like a sound file to go with the book. Maybe that will come out, too?

This is great for our small group class! Our adult students are quicker to learn the English word when they understand what it means in their language. Most of our English as a Second Language (ESL) students are from Hispanic and Oriental countries, but we wanted this book for the one from the Middle East.
