High protein. Good texture and taste.
This is one of our favorite grains as a base for combining any type of veggies, olives, cheeses, (meat if you like) and different dressings as a main dish or a side dish. Very versatile and appeals to most. It isn’t too small or too large of a grain. It has texture- a slightly firm chewy texture with a mild (?nutty) flavor. (We also use Bulgar and Farro a lot). It’s a major plus that it is one of the grains highest in protein. Only disadvantage is the price.

Delish!
I’ve been wanting to try freekeh for quite a while now, and I have to say it’s my new whole grain favorite! Nutty, slightly smoky but still still softly textured, it’s a great substitute for rice. I make it in my electric rice cooker with some chicken broth and it cooks up in about 15 minutes with no fuss or extra heat in the kitchen. Quite nutritious, not to mention delicious, it’s my new carb comfort food.

Love it
It's nice to cook and eat something that's actually 'HEALTHY' for you! This stuff is great with just butter and salt (preferably light seasoned salt).. Sea salt works great with this; it really enhances the nutty flavour of the Freekah.I will be buying more of this.....

Freekah, Ancient Grain
I liked this a lot, I cooked this much the same as rice in chicken stock in a pot on my stove top. I added some middle eastern spices and roasted some chopped summer veggies with olive oil on parchment paper on a sheet pan in the oven, which I mixed with the freekah and chopped figs. I served it on the side with fish prepared in an air fryer and a cucumber salad. It was wonderful. Leftovers are very easy to reheat. I will be using this more.

A Super Grain
Freekeh is new to me — read about it in a NY Times article — and it is fantastic. The variety I bought was the cracked, not whole, type.Absolutely delicious — uch more interesting than farro or quinoa. My only caveat is that in this size bag, it is quite expensive. I recently found a 5# bag for a much more reasonable price.

Expensive for a grain.
I wanted to try this kind of grain. The package was smaller than I expected. A pound doesn't really go very far, makes about two batches. The taste is pretty basic, I'll need to do something else with it, but so far, it's expensive and just kind of "meh."It's supposed to be a little bit better for you than some of the other grains.

Good to try
I read about Freekeh being the new grain to try, and it was definitely worth a try. It has a smoky flavor that I didn't love. I'm working on losing Covid weight and it wasn't worth the calories to me. It's worth trying though.
