Manischewitz Soup Mix Minestrone Pack of 4

This is the same thick, rich, flavorful, satisfying soup that I grew up with in my childhood neighborhood. I was introduced to Manichewitz products by my close friends' families who were Jewish. I learned to speak to the grandmothers in Yiddish and they, in turn, taught me a fair bit about good food. They also taught me the best cooking some days are the items that cook themselves. My favorite hacks for this soup: it fits perfectly in a 1.5 quart crock pot. I toss the peas into the crock, cover with hot water from a kettle up to a little shy of an inch from the rim, stir once and set on low for 3 to 4 hours. Add the seasoning to taste, cover and let cook for at least half an hour to allow the seasoning to work its magic. When you add the seasoning, the mixture will foam up. That is totally normal. Just stir it in well and then cover. Now, the funny thing is I am writing a review for a kosher product in the middle of lent and I am Lutheran. I love it on meatless Fridays. From sundown Thursday to Sunrise on Saturday, my slow cooker is at least half full. When I get to the bottom of a crock, I don't bother to rinse or wash, I just toss a fresh tube of peas in and top with fresh water and cook the next batch. I just keep topping off until Saturday, then wash the crock until the next week. There are so very few products that one can say still are as delicious as they were when we were much younger. This is one that truly is, and is more special to me because it honors the memories of the friends and families I shared it with back then. I order this regularly, and will always have a couple tubes ready in my pantry.

I love Manischewitz soups! There are no preservatives and no colorings and no additional additives. It’s made with clean ingredients! I add them to my plant-based diet and it gives me a lot of protein and nutrients that I need. They’re so easy to make, and you could also add Canned vegetables or even fresh vegetables, it’s so versatile to create a full meal from this soup packet! If you wanted to add meat or pork, that’s your choice. The flavor packet is like magic! Don’t forget to use it because that’s what gives the soups flavor. I highly recommend this! Enjoy!

Variety of ingredients. Sodium is high but I add additional water and sodium free stock with a lot more vegetables so the sodium level is greatly reduced.
