BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge Volume 6 is the annual round-up of the cream of 2011’s Live Lounge sessions. Artists such as Jessie J, Birdy and Ed Sheeran make their debut appearance, alongside superstars such as Take That and Adele. The first Live Lounge sessions started 10 years ago on Jo Whiley’s show, and are now under the watchful eye of Fearne Cotton, attracting the best acts in the world. The bands and artists perform their own track, and a cover version. The tracks are live and stripped down, showing the true quality of the musicianship and craft of the song.

Reliably interesting
I have am minor confession to make, I own every single Live Lounge CD, so I pre-ordered this one from Britain, and had it delivered via Royal Mail to me. And like its predecessors, this CD did not fail to exceed my expectations, in the slightest. Each of these songs shows either a unique perspective on it, or an invaluable cover of it. For example, Avril Lavigne does a very interesting redition of Ke$ha's "Tik Tok", which shows off her own vocal versatility. Yet, even Jessie J's redition of her "Price Tag" shows a different side of her ow song, making it sound more folksy and quaint than the album version.Overall, this album is full of unique tracks which you can't find anywhere else in just one easy, convenient place.

Love it
BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge, Volume 6 is a gem for music enthusiasts. It's a collection of amazing live performances by top artists. The stripped-down, acoustic renditions of popular songs are captivating. The diversity in music styles and the authenticity of the performances make this volume a great addition to the Live Lounge series.

Worthwhile
I bought this as a present for my Dad as he is not a big fan of pop music but prefers stripped back tracks. I haven't really ever listened to a full live lounge album but I had a listen to this one and I must say I was impressed. The stripped backed versions of the tracks were phenomenal, as a lot of music is lost through the overuse of instruments. I was also very pleased to see that bands such as the Vaccines, two door cinema club and Vampire Weekend were also on the album.
