This book provides words and phrases. Broken down in many forms. Been studying this book and it does take some effort for one as a beginner. I do have a Chinese friend which I practice with. I never told him I use this book I just surprise with sentences and phrases to verify my studies. My friend grew up in China, so my friend is fluent in mandarin and cantonese. And my friend has confirmed I am pronouncing and properly speaking. Which means this book is amazingly useful. All I recommend is to be open minded if you never tried studying mandarin. This will help you grasp the information much more smoothly. 很好书。

What a lovely book! Nice shiny quality paper. 1500 words defined with pictures. This is a great accompaniment to my textbooks and is a fun way to learn and reinforce vocabulary. This is simplified character Mandarin as spoken on the China mainland; it is not Taiwanese traditional characters. For my needs it is perfect. Thank you for publishing this. As a beginner/intermediate student I appreciate that these are all common words for me to learn.

I actually really love this printed with visual guide book!

As an educator, who has been teaching foreigners to learn Mandarin Chinese language for 18 years, I would say it is very difficult to learn a foreign language since we (learners) are not in an immersion learning environment. During the instruction, I have been guiding students to use English-Chinese and Chinese-English dictionaries online and on a hard copy format. Recently, I found this newly published Mandarin Chinese Picture Dictionary from Amazon is very useful. I encourage all of my students (at the beginning and intermediate levels) to use this picture dictionary in/outside of class. This Mandarin Chinese dictionary includes many colorful illustrations, 1,500 practical phrases, and sentences, which allow all students to reinforce what we have learned in the class and allow them to practice the usage of useful words/phrases and sentence patterns in a real-life situation. This dictionary also lists all Pinyin syllable (Chinese phonetic alphabets) and English definition to guide students to learn new words /phrases and sentences by themselves. In addition, this picture dictionary has online audio, which helps all students to improve their listening and speaking. This dictionary is particularly designed for students who would like to improve their proficiency levels and prepared them for the HSK and AP Chinese exams.

Wow this book is the best thing I’ve ever bought for my Chinese studies. There is an abundance of characters and words. The table of contents is very helpful as the words are within sections or themes. — The book is hardcover with a plastic cover hugging it. It has many pictures and tips and examples. I’ve wanted to label my house in these words so this is definitely helpful. This is a must buy.

This is better suited for older or adult Chinese as second language learners rather than for younger children in bilingual households. Written in Simplified Chinese with pinyin and English translations, and the photos chosen to illustrate each word or phrase is nicely presented. I would recommend this as a learning supplement in addition to lesson books, flashcards, and other materials.

I bought this to keep up on my Mandarin after many years living in Taiwan. But when I got this in the mail, I saw it uses simplified Chinese writing style, which is not what they use in Taiwan (or Hong Kong). Also the words they use in this book reflect the words they use in the mainland (I guess), because they don't match what was i used in Taiwan. Returned this book to order something that would sustain the Mandarin I learned in Taiwan. Otherwise, it seems to be perfect if you want to learn the style of Chinese they use in the mainland.

O dicionário é ótimo para quem está iniciando os estudos em mandarim.

Je le montre rapidement en vidéo pour montrer la différence. Alors oui il est en chinois mandarin et anglais mais c'est le meilleur que j'ai pu trouver jusque là parce qu'on ne se perd pas en lexique inutile et qu'on nous propose pas mal de phrases utiles au quotidien. On est vraiment là sur un outil d'apprentissage du langage courant et c'est super bien fichu à ceci près que les phrases proposées ne sont pas celles qu'on apprend dans les manuels mais peu importe. J'aime beaucoup ce que propose cette marque en apprentissage du chinois. C'est encore le cas ici. C'est vraiment un support qui vaut le détour.
