Perri's Premium Stirrup Leathers

Like most have stated, they are stiff out of the box, but they were far from the cardboard-like cheap leather you see in a lot of imported products. I initially put leaderbalsam on them and let that soak in over night, so as not to over soften the leather. That worked a little, but they still were stiffer than I was aiming for. I soaked them for a couple of hours in a leather oil (I would not suggest overnight soaking unless you want them to bleed oil for a very long time afterwards). Took them out, let them dry off of the saddle for a while until they were no longer slick and stopped weeping oil. They were PERFECT thereafter. Likely will stretch some as they have no core to prevent it and are pure leather. My only regret is that I didn't get the thicker 1" length. Something about the 3/4" just seems a bit disproportionate on a 17" saddle.

Leathers were not even . Had to add holes in between to find the right length . Was annoying that the reason I ordered new leathers was because I couldn’t put more holes in my old leathers from stretching . I do like that they are light weight and thin . I don’t know how long they will last . I have not used them much since the weather has been too cold to ride .

These are ideal - strong, durable, and have softened over time. I especially like that the holes are numbered. You can see in the first photo how they started and how they are now after use three times a week for many months. Easy to clean and match the saddle perfectly. Great leather, great value. Would purchase again.

Great leathers for price. There was an initial problem with shipping and they were sent back mistakingly but once they arrived they were very nice and matched the saddle very well. Not too stiff but my daughter did oil them a bit.

Stiff leather, but seem durable and long lasting. I am sure they will soften with use, but after about 4 weeks of near daily use they are still a little stiff. I'm not worried about it, but they definitely are not a luxury brand with buttery soft leather.

my leathers snapped two days before my lesson so i had to get some new ones. i was going to get synthetic to match my synthetic tekna cc saddle and so that it won’t stretch, but saw these and decided to give them a try. the color match was okay, the leather was soft and it looked good. i conditioned the night before but for the lesson, i just did flat work and the left stirrup leather stretched 1 INCH and the other stretched .5 INCH. kind of disappointed, i returned and i will be getting another pair of leathers.

Item purchased was the tan 54" chestnut. Didn't feel overly stiff and should wear in well. The leathers themselves look tough and durable, with heavy stitching and good quality leather. Great savings from similar products at the local tack shop. Thanks!

Nice black color. Work great on my English saddle

Incorrect name of the product- only one stirrup leather (not leathers!!!) sent. It is like receiving just one shoe. all other stirrup leathers and stirrups are sold as a pair. Therefore this unusual selling sku should be clearly described. Very disappointed and returning it.
