I Wish I Would Have Installed These Sooner
Today, I fell in love with my K- and L-frame revolvers all over again, and all I did was change the factory grips to the Hogue OverMolded Rubber Grips. I have three Smith & Wesson revolvers: a 340PD, a Model 66, and a 686-6. Due to my small hands, I have to shift my grip forward so my index finger can make proper contact with the trigger. Because of that, all handguns recoil into the side of my thumb rather than the webbing between my thumb and index finger. (See photo.) Most automatics don't leave injuries. But with revolvers, even a short session at the range will leave the skin on my thumb torn and bleeding. This was especially problematic with the extremely lightweight 340PD, even when shooting 38 Special +P. (With .357 Magnums, recoil is nothing short of abusive.) I put the J-frame OverMolded grips on that revolver, and it really tamed the recoil. So when I started shooting hot .357 Magnum loads in the larger revolvers, my thumb would get torn apart every time. That's when I decided to try the OverMolded grips on the 66 and 686-6. I took them to the range today, shot 250 rounds of .357 Magnums, and have no thumb injuries whatsoever. Plus, the grips don't interfere with my HKS speedloaders. What used to be a day of punishing recoil followed by days of wound care is now a delightful injury-free day at the range. Now I look forward to target practice, knowing my thumb won't get shredded, and more practice will make me a better marksman. Thanks, Hogue!

Hogue rubber grip.
Fits my SW model 66 perfectly. A definite upgrade from the stock rubber grip.

Better than stock grip
My S&W factory grip for my Governor gave up the ghost. This grip was great. Easy fit, comfortable and much better that the stock grip. I am not easy on my gear and thisw seems to be standing up.

Tames the bite of a S&W 329
This is the grip that should come stock with the Smith and Wesson 329PD! I found the 329 a bit lively when progressing to heavier loadings and a local Sportsman's Warehouse employee suggested I give these grips a go. They installed in 5 minutes and I found I could shoot any loading I wanted to carry day to day without concern.

Blister eliminator
My 2nd shot out of the box with the factory grips gave me this blister. See the circled pyramid shape of the factory grips in the pics. That comes into contact with my hand, which I suspect is what caused the ripped skin on my 2nd shot out of the box.I bought these Hogue grips immediately after returning from the range. Notice from my video that the blistered area does not come into contact with the grips. The installed Hogue grips don’t feel any softer than the factory grips, but they are noticeably more comfortable when handling the gun. This elimination of the “pyramid” may be why Hogue grips appear to reduce recoil.I haven’t shot the gun with the Hogue grips yet. So, a final comparison is not available. But, I’ll give you an update when I do.

works great!
Looks good, works great! I broke the stirrup brace on the first one I received, so Amazon sent a replacement and it installed as advertised. I did notice when I first had it on I had a large gap by the back strap and the trigger guard. I just kept manipulating and shoving it and it kind of popped into place. Fits just like the picture shown on my S&W 327. Absolutely love it! First time I shot this gun with the stock factory grips it felt like I hit the web of my hand with a hammer after 50 rounds! Now I can put a couple of boxes of ammo through it without a second thought, and without a week of recovery time.

Excellent, but Beware of Switcheroo
For me the most important feature of this grip is that it completely covers the backstrap of the revolver grip frame. This not only moderates felt recoil, but also protects the metal backstrap from rust-inducing hand oils and sweat. Now for the SWITCHEROO - the grip I first received was NOT an Overmolded Grip, but instead was a different Hogue grip (looked like a Hogue Smith Wesson S&W K or L Frame - 19002) that had been put into the Overmolded package. I suspect that a wily customer had kept the Overmolded grip that he ordered, put his old Hogue 19002 grip in the package, and sent it back for a refund. Fortunately, I immediately noticed that the grip had an OPEN BACKSTRAP and returned it for the genuine article. The switcheroo probably went back into inventory and will be probably be sent out again, so be on the lookout for those rogue Hogue grips!BTW, another good feature of this grip is that it is good for people with large hands.
