I’ve tried many basmati rice brands over the years, but this Tropical Sun Golden Sella Basmati Rice (5kg) has genuinely impressed me, especially considering the price for such a large bag. First thing I noticed when cooking it is the aroma. It has that classic basmati fragrance but with a slightly mild nutty tone that becomes more noticeable once the rice is cooked. The grains cook up long, separate, and fluffy, which is exactly what you want from good basmati rice. It doesn’t turn sticky or clumpy, even if you make a bigger batch. The Golden Sella (parboiled) style also seems to help the grains hold their shape well. I’ve used it for several dishes already from simple rice with curry to Indian dishes and it performs consistently every time. It absorbs flavours nicely without becoming mushy. Another big positive is the value for money. A 5kg bag is ideal for households that cook rice regularly. The quality feels comparable to some more expensive basmati brands I’ve bought before, so getting this quantity at the current price feels like a really good deal. Packaging is practical also. Overall: Great flavour, pleasant aroma, fluffy texture, and excellent value for a large bag.
