Northern Exposure Complete Series, Seasons 1-6 (DVD, 26 Disc) DVD

I'd remembered watching a couple episodes decades ago. On a whim, we ordered this set. Wife and I LOVE the characters-- a principle that all modern TV series has forgotten. Rob Morrow IS prototypical Jewish doc. Janine Turner, and characters Ed, Marylin,Holling, Shelly, Adam... are spot on. All plots are thought provoking, and all are positive, leaving viewer feeling good. BlueRay video at 1080p is excellent and 2-channel Dolby sound is distributed through our 11-channel theater to provide excellent AV experience for us. Sometimes watch the extra "deleted scenes" et cetera.

Northern Exposure is and awesome fun tv series. Never saw it when it came out but heard about it and no I've watched must say it is truly quirky fun! Highly recommend.

We enjoyed watching these Blue Ray DVDS. This show aired in the 90's and we haven't seen any free reruns on any streaming services so it's nice to be able to watch episodes at on our own pace.

If you've never watched Northern Exposure, this blu-ray edition is the one to have. The color, clarity, and sound are very good. A lot of reviewers over the years have commented about how the original music from the broadcast series has been changed in the DVD versions over the years because of property rights issues. Reviewers of this blu-ray collection say that 50% to 80% of the original tunes have been restored in it and this is probably as good as it will ever get. The TV program aired from 1990 - 1995. I don't think I've watched it since then, and only remember the very last original tune at the end of the series, Iris Dement's "Our Town." As soon as the collection arrived, I put on the last disc and selected the last episode, fast forwarded to the end, and sure enough "Our Town" was there. I got just as emotional as when I watched the last show 30 years ago. I've always had a pretty good grip on my emotions, but this song brings tears to my eyes and sure sums up feelings about the whole series. Northern Exposure is a nice change from the climate that exists in "Our World" today - Our Town, Cicely, AK, is how things should be, not how they are. Rosyln, Washington was the film location for Cicely.

Watched this series when it first aired, and then not again until we bought this multi-disk set. Had forgotten how much fun this show was, but enjoying re-watching it now. After watching Season 1 and part of Season 2, so far the video and audio quality seems fine.

I remember loving this when it was running on TV. It was one of my favorite series. No one was streaming it and so we were forced to buy this. Of course as soon as it arrived, it became available on streaming. But the characters are so quirky and lovable. The story lines are interesting. And I really love the theme song! So yeah, I'm glad we got it.

Contrary to what others have written, this new blu ray set is still missing some original music. That being said, it is a vast improvement over the U.S. dvd sets from years ago, where so much was replaced with generic music it was unwatchable for me. The music is so important, relating to story and themes. This new set seems to retain about 80 percent of the original music; that may be the best we will get on U.S. releases. For example, The Byrds "Turn Turn Turn" has been restored to the end of Season Four's "Old Tree"....however, Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein" is still missing from the end of Season Six's "Full Upright Position." Of course as other have noted, sets released outside the U.S. contain ALL original music, and need to be played on dvd/blu ray players that will play all region discs. If that is too much for you to invest, go with this set; it's pretty close to the original broadcasts.

Very excited to get complete 6 seasons of Northern Exposure, very disappointed Disc 1, Season 1 does not play!!! We were looking forward to the initial episodes to see how it started, just annoying disc 1 is a waste of money. Can't wait to check the next one!
