Lots-o-fun Repackaged
I'd like to start by saying I love the game itself. I'd played through it multiple times, ending up lending my disc to an ex and never getting it back. And when I saw this edition come up for sale, I pre-ordered and purchased it immediately.Pro's -The Steel Case with slipcoverComes with Knights of the Nine & Shivering IslesThe Cyrodiil MapThe "Making Of" discCon's -Its basically the Game of the Year and original collectors edition put togetherThe coupon for Skyrim inside is a mail-in rebateBeyond that, I don't see any cons. Though it does feel like the same edition, I'm loving the sleek new look to the case. However; my biggest issue with this was the Skyrim coupon. It promises 10 dollars off a purchase of Skyrim, but you also have to buy the guide, AND you have to buy it for 59.99...so the price here on amazon for Skyrim (Right now being: $54.54) would not qualify at all for this coupon. This I believe was the biggest drawback to this collection. Finally; if you're a huge oblivion fan, this would be a great edition to own. Also, if you've never played oblivion to begin with than its also a great edition as it comes with DLC, the map, and what not. Oblivion is an amazing game, and all in all; I'm happy that I bought this edition.

Fun game, Great price
If you haven't already played oblivion And wanted to then this is definitely the best deal. The steel box is a really nice touch. The only downside to the collector's edition is the $10 off coupon it gives you for skyrim. You need to spend at least $60 on skyrim itself (I'm pretty sure it's about $55 here on amazon), as well as purchasing the official guide book. And they send you a $10 pre-paid visa card in the mail. The coupon was a bit of a disappointment, but oblivion is still a great game, and at this price with these extras it's deffinately a good bargain!

Totally Woth it!
I had rented Oblivion a few months ago and enjoyed it. I had learned that the 5th anniversary was coming out so i waited to buy it. This is PHENOMENAL deal. The DLC is worth about $30 alone, the games is worth about $20, the making of dvd, map and steel book are very, very nice additions. You also receive a rebate for skyrim, you get $10 back, but you need to buy the strategy guide. Even though thus game is 5 years old it is very fun.

Worthy of your money if you can't afford Skyrim.
I never played Oblivion until this year, so this is a perspective of 2011, not 2006. However, I'm about 100 hours in and I think I would give this game 4 stars regardless of the year. If you plan on getting Skyrim (and haven't played Oblivion), it'll be difficult for you to enjoy Oblivion if you decide to get it later on. The graphics, gameplay, and UI will appear very dated by comparison. I recommend you playing this first if you plan on buying both.At first, I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this game. I was a few minutes in, and already over-encumbered. Yes, that can happen in real life, but not knowing what you'll need in a game, you tend to grab everything around you. I like how in Fallout, you slow down instead of stopping altogether. It would be great if you slowed down a little with each item, based on strength ... and not so abruptly with one more book, as an example. If you're obsessive compulsive, this game will drive you crazy. There are so many drawers, cabinets, chests, barrels, bags for you to look inside that looking through them all is quite the task. You can literally play around for hours without accomplishing anything, which is why I think many people give poor reviews. Once you know what you are supposed to do and actually go on missions, then you can like it a lot more. If you just go around town, trying to convince people to like you, then it can be very boring. And getting people to like you simply by pressing a button in the right order is not fun at all. They should like/hate you based on the deeds you do, not for telling a joke or being mean from dialogue you never hear. The lock-picking was also kind of tedious. It was fun for the first couple times, but after that (although there is some skilled involved), it's mainly based on luck. Lock-picking in Fallout was much better. I think that has been improved in Skyrim. The inventory menu can be quite long, especially with keys and potions you create. It was very annoying going through a long list of keys in order to select a torch. Yes, you can hotlink items, but it was still quite an issue. Mixing food/plants together got annoying too. There are just way too many outcomes. An invisibility potion that lasts 19 seconds and one that last 18 seconds just makes for a chaotic inventory. This could all be solved with better menu UI, and I think Skyrim will help with a lot of that, but we'll see.The best of Oblivion has to be the environments. Like World of Warcraft, just going around discovering new areas is half the fun. The whole world is beautiful even for a five year old game. Yes, there are pauses to load more map areas, but it doesn't detract from the game that much. I have had the game crash when going too fast in largely detailed areas, however. The dungeons are dark and creepy and dangerous. Even the plants aren't just placed around haphazardly. The fighting is fun although sometimes the enemies are quite stupid. You climb a rock and they just stay below so that you can shoot them with arrows constantly. With warping, it does make you go faster from one area to the next, but I would prefer to have warping portals that you must locate and map in each area or you must perform a spell of some sort.Overall, it's a fun game. Like I've said, I've played about 100 hours and I've still not done most of what's in here. If I played Skyrim, I don't think I could play this again. It's not like an older Zelda game to me because the story just isn't that deep in Oblivion. There are missions, yeah ... but not enough compelling characters or storyline that would get me back to play again. Some actors are better than others, but a lot of the dialogue can be a bit cheesy. Fallout had better storyline and characters. Hopefully, that is improved with Skyrim. They did seem to improve how you interact with them. They aren't just closeups of people staring into your soul, they are actually working while talking and that is great.I do recommend Oblivion, but with the potential of what Skyrim seems to be ... it's hard not to want to get that instead. My advice is that if you don't have the money to buy Skyrim now, go for Oblivion and have patience. Just know that Skyrim uses a new engine, so this can't compare to Oblivion in the same way Fallout: New Vegas compares to Fallout 3. It's going to be a much bigger change.

Awesome Value for an Awesome Product!!
-Gameplay-Oblivion and all of it's expansions will provide you with 100 or more hours of RPGing. This game has an insane amount of depth, and ground-breaking graphics for its time (2006).-5th Anniversary Edition-This is THE best deal Bethesda has made on this game so far. If you are an Elder Scrolls fan, this is almost a necessity. The game comes in a bad@ss metal case with daedric carvings on it, and there is a really cool color poster of Tamriel and the Shivering Isles. For $30, this is a bargain deal. Keep in mind the first collector's edition that was released for this game was $70 (excluding all the expansions)!IMPORTANT NOTES:*Keep in mind this version has Oblivion, Knights of the Nine, and the Shivering Isles included in it--NOT THE REST OF THE DLC (horse armor, mage's tower, orrery, etc.)\*The $10 off your purchase of Skyrim INCLUDES the purchase of the strategy guide. A good deal only if you had planned on buying the guide in the first place.

Don't be fooled
So, first of all, I am an avid Elder Scrolls fan and have enjoyed this game for the whole 5 years. There is only a few reasons I purchased this game in the first place. The main reason being the "$10 off coupon." I am sure everyone knows what a coupon is. Not Bethesda or whomevers idea this was. It is a mail in rebate which you receive a $10 dollar prepaid Visa card. Not only that folks, you must buy the Skyrim game, and the Strategy Guide on the same receipt and send it in with the receipt of this game. What kind of doody is that? Spend $30 + $60 + $15 = $105 just to receive a $10 off credit card? Ridonkulous is what this is. Love the game though! For reelz!
