Does a lot of different things really well.
Not perfect - I would rate it at 4.5 if I could - but definitely excellent. Pro: * compact * versatile * fairly easy to use * easy to clean * quiet * fast Con: * Minor inconvenience for toasting - easily fixed * Minor issue with cleaning - easily fixed * controls could be easier I actually also used the lower-spec model TOA-70 (with the 4 dials, and no screen). I prefer this TOA-65 over the TOA-70 for a number of reasons. With this toaster-oven / air fryer, I replaced 2 appliances on my kitchen bench - which is always a Good Thing (TM): a popup toaster, and a dedicated air-fryer. Not only did I reclaim some bench space, but I got the added functionality of the toaster-oven, and the ability to cook smaller things in the bench-top oven instead of heating our 36" oven (plus the entire house) just to cook a single cake, or tray of biscuits. Personally, I find the controls simple to use - even though the "menu" system is not particularly intuitive. My wife disagrees somewhat, and complains that the old air-fryer was simpler to use (which it was). We use this TOA-65 toaster-oven / air-fryer every day. * every day, we toast various things for breakfast: * the digital settings and screen make the process very repeatable and reliable. * HOWEVER, having to put an oven mitt on in order to pull out a sliding rack to get the toast/muffins/bagel gets annoying really quickly. Thankfully, this is easily fixed with a $10 oven rack puller -see: https://a.co/d/0exzBqfY * Every 2-3 days we cook something in the air-fryer: * chicken drumsticks or thighs, * steak * lamb chops * potatoes * The steak, chops, thighs, and potatoes all fit easily with the tray in the recommended upper position. * However, the drumsticks can be too large, so I move the tray+basket to the lower position and: * use the air-fryer mode for a longer amount of time * use fan-forced oven mode + 1-2 minutes of broil to brown the outside / skin Each seems to work as well as the other, although I've found it easier to predict the required time for the oven+broil compared to air-frying on the lower position. * All of air-fry, oven, and broil are extremely quiet - especially compared to our previous dedicated air-fryer. * about once per week, I bake something like banana bread in oven mode. The oven can fit 2x 9" loaf trays, and cooks perfectly: * really fast preheat compared to our full-sized oven * much less energy than our full-sized oven * much less heat in the kitchen and house compared to the full-sized oven. * About once per week, I defrost and cook some frozen food such as pizza, chicken nuggets, spanakopita, etc. * I usually use the air-fryer mode, since that is what I was doing previously. * However, I've found the spanakopita actually cooks better in fan-forced oven mode. * occasionally, I reheat some leftovers from the fridge. If I want them to be crispy, then the reheat mode of this toaster-oven is better than reheating on the stovetop or in a microwave. I haven't used the combo-cooking yet, but given I use bake+broil manually, I will be trying the combo-cooking for that. Cleaning is a breeze. The tray and basket are stainless steel, and polished, so they wash easily under hot water. At least once per week - or if oil etc have been cooked on - I put tray, basket and (accessory stainless steel) rack into the dishwasher. I found accessory stainless slide out trays, baskets, and racks very inexpensively - see: * https://a.co/d/0djr1d31 * https://a.co/d/0421OL5Y Originally, I mistakenly thought that the standard basket and tray were not stainless (they are not stainless on the cheaper TOA-70), but it is really handy to have a spare set anyway, so I didn't return the extras I bought. If I've cooked something with very distinctive taste, then I can slide tray and basket out, slide in clean tray and basket, and get cooking again immediately. Pics show: * chicken thighs cooked in air-fryer mode, turned once to brown both sides. * lamb chops cooked in air-fryer mode, then in broil mode to get a bit more brown.

The Ultimate Daily Driver: A True Kitchen Workhorse for Every Meal
Overview If you're looking for an appliance that can actually replace your full-sized oven for 90% of tasks, the Cuisinart Digital Air Fryer Toaster Oven (TOA-65) is it. This isn't just a gadget that sits on the counter; it’s a high-performance tool designed for high-frequency use. After using it daily, it has proven itself to be the most reliable "workhorse" in the kitchen. Performance & Daily Utility * Power & Speed: With an 1800-watt motor, this unit heats up almost instantly. The air fry function is exceptionally powerful, delivering that deep-fried crunch to everything from wings to roasted vegetables in a fraction of the time a standard oven requires. * Digital Precision: The digital display is a game-changer compared to manual dial models. You can dial in exact temperatures and times, which is crucial for delicate tasks like dehydrating or proofing bread dough. * Versatility: It handles the basics like toast and bagels perfectly, but it shines when used for complex tasks like slow cooking or roasting a 4lb chicken. The wide range of temperatures (from low-temp dehydrating to high-heat searing) makes it incredibly flexible. Design & User Experience * Capacity: Despite its relatively compact footprint, the interior is spacious enough to fit a 12-inch pizza or 6 slices of bread without crowding. * Quiet Operation: For such a powerful fan, the air fry mode is surprisingly quiet. You can carry on a conversation in the kitchen without competing with the sound of the motor. * Aesthetic: The sleek stainless steel finish is durable and looks professional on the counter. It’s built to withstand the wear and tear of being opened and closed dozens of times a day. Ease of Maintenance * Cleaning: The interior is non-stick, making it easy to wipe down after greasy air-frying sessions. The dishwasher-safe baking pan and air fryer basket save a significant amount of time on cleanup. * Lighted Interior: The internal oven light allows you to monitor your progress without opening the door and losing heat—a small but vital feature for daily cooking. Considerations * Exterior Heat: Like most powerful toaster ovens, the exterior can get hot during long cooking cycles. Ensure you have proper clearance on your countertop. * Learning the Heat: Because it is so efficient, you may find that you need to lower your standard recipe temperatures by about 25 degrees to prevent over-browning. Final Verdict The Cuisinart TOA-65 is the gold standard for multi-functional countertop ovens. It is built for those who cook at home every day and need an appliance that can keep up. It’s reliable, powerful, and produces consistent, high-quality results across all ten of its functions. Pro Tip: For the best results when air frying, avoid overcrowding the basket. Spacing out your food allows the high-velocity airflow to reach every surface, ensuring that "workhorse" crunch every time.

Great toaster oven air fryer combo with one small tweak
I had been researching toaster ovens and air fryers separately for the last six months. I had my eye on this one for quite a while because it had multiple functions including the air fryer that I wanted. I decided to bite the bullet when it went on sale and I had a $30 coupon before Christmas. I’m thrilled with my purchase so far. I’ve used it a dozen times since it arrived. On boxing was easy and the instruction booklet included was fairly thorough. I did have to work through the knob and the multiple functions several time to understand how to select what I wanted it to do. Once I understood how it worked the rest of it was fairly easy. The included tray and basket are nice quality and clean up really quickly. The overall construction of the unit feels substantial and in using the functions that I have experimented with so far including the air fryer it operates fairly quietly. Despite some other reviewer‘s claiming that it gets extremely hot I have it situated at least 3 inches on every side from another surface and have found that it does not get overheated from the outside at all. The only issue that I’ve had thus far is that the predetermined settings seem to slightly over cook my food. I’ve had to be very mindful of watching how quickly things are cooking because if I let it run the full time or at the full temperature things very quickly get burned. After the first few experiments with vegetables and chicken nuggets I realize that I was going to have to decrease the time by 2 to 3 minutes and decrease the temperature 25° to keep that from happening. It’s like any other oven though- they all require some calibration straight from the factory. Knowing that though has made it easy for me to calculate what I need to set the time and temperature to in order to get the results that I want. Overall I’m thrilled with my purchase. I’m really enjoying using it for quick meals for the kids, sides for family meals, and to proof dough.

How did I live without this.
Our introduction to air fryers came in the form of an Instant Pot with an air fryer lid, which is awesome by the way! But the instant pot just did not have a big enough area to air fry much for a four person family. So I got this Cuisinart. Having the additional area of the rectangular basket has been everything. I have done fries, tater tots, onion rings and pretzel bits quick and easy. I have done both breaded and non-breaded chicken, but frozen and thawed. Reheating fajitas and similar things returns some of the crispiness they had when fresh. Left overs are so much better than in the oven. Things that came out kind of wet and mushy in the oven come out fresh and crispy. My wife and I sometimes sit at the island and have a meal of fish sticks and tater tots as a fun little hangout dinner because they are so crispy and better than the oven. No, I did not say the fish sticks are good, just better! I have done very little with the non-air fryer features of the oven. I even air fried a frozen pizza a couple times. No, we don't just eat that kind of stuff, we typically cook dinner on the stove and in the oven, but when we are in the mood for fries or something, this could not be more convenient. Bacon comes out good. I use foil on the drip tray, makes cleaning it a lot easier. But cleaning the basket sucks, especially when you have bacon grease or chicken drippings types of things. It can take some effort cleaning it because of the nature of the basket itself, since it is not a flat surface like a pan. There are so many quick lunch ideas I have for this that we have not tried yet. The great thing about the air fryer vs the oven is the lack of preheat time. Everything gets done quicker in the air fryer considering just cook time, but then you also don't have the preheat time, which is huge! I bought this to also replace my aging toaster, but I have not sold myself on doing that yet. Toast comes out of here well enough, but I grew up with a toaster, it is hard to let go of it. Bottom line, order this, now, we love ours. I don't rate most things a 5, but the only thing I could think of to even consider dinging a star off this is because I hate cleaning the basket. But considering how it also sucked cleaning the instant pot out after air frying with it, I guess this is just how it has to be. It is a small price to pay. Example of ease and quickness. Was cooking dinner in the oven for an hour. Kids were getting hungry fast. Grabbed a bag of frozen pretzel bits and threw four in for each us. 4 minutes on (i think it was 375) and boom, $8-13 worth of appetizer for about $2.50 and 4 minutes of time.

Overall I am very happy with this purchase.
My only complaint is the controls feel very cheap. I have had it for one month, and it is the most use kitchen appliance I own. The temperature runs hot. I have taken the advice from other reviews to run it about 25° lower. If something calls for 400° cooking temperature I run it at 375° and still may be a few degrees hot. What a great Air frier, toaster, oven. Update 8/25/22 The controls are very cheap and have all booked completely failed. This happened relatively quickly I have been dealing with this for months. I cannot tell you how crappy this thing is. If you’re trying to set it at 400° you just turn it until it randomly selects 400°. That is more difficult than you would think. And then to choose whether or not your air frying or baking or using any of the other functions is the same roulette game you turn the knob and the ball lands where it lands. You just have to keep turning the knob until it hits what you want. Sometimes that can take a few minutes. Very frustrating! I will be replacing this with a different brand. This was an expensive lesson. I recommend you highly regard the comments about the cheap controls that feel very easily and early. I would highly recommend looking at a different brand if you’re looking to get in one of these types of air fryers. I will admit when you finally get lucky enough and fight your way through the controls to what you want it to do, it actually performs very well. But I feel like I’m in some kind of a comedy skit every time I use this thing.

Destroys Ninja at baking and air frying
I have been using an Oster 1300W convection bake oven. I was very happy with its convection bake but wanted to replace it with an air fryer / oven unit. I purchased both the Ninja SP101 and this Cuisinart. I cooked the same items in all the ovens at once to perform a direct comparison. I Initially purchased just the Ninja but noticed a significant bake performance downgrade from the Oster it was replacing so added this Cuisinart to the competition. Convection bake: Frozen French bread pizza at 400F. The Cuisinart cooked it perfectly at 6 minutes. The Oster came in second with a perfect pizza after 13 minutes. The Ninja came in last with a disappointing bake after 16 minutes. Air fryer: Frozen chicken nuggets sprayed with olive oil at 400F The Cuisinart created a perfect crisp set of nuggets after 9 minutes. The Ninja created a very good crisp after 14 minutes. Both did an excellent job at air fry, but the Cuisinart crisp was slightly better and it cooked much quicker. So this Cuisinart oven wins by a mile. The Ninja is still a good air fryer if you never touch the Cuisinart. Notes: I ruled out the more expensive Breville due to its low quality air fry and unacceptably slow preheat time. I purchased the Ninja first since it is compact and has a fold up feature to free up some counter space when not in use. That feature is somewhat of a gimmick since you have to lift and move the entire unit to store it. The Cuisinart is significantly taller at 14” vs 8” for the Ninja and 12” for the Oster.

AWESOME OVEN, but be sure it’s right for your needs first
I really love this oven!!! I haven’t had it long, but it’s amazing so far. I read multiple negative reviews about it cooking to hot, but I love that about it cause it will literally cook an item in no time. It’s so fast & I actually love this about it, cause my other toaster ovens were slow, so this is just perfect for me. But, be warned... make no mistake. You do have to set items 50-100 degrees lower to compensate for the extreme heat, so I do. And if you forget your food will be charred. The air fryer feature is so fast too. I made very big, thick French fried potato wedges; they were perfect & cooked extreme fast. too. A lamb roast took half the time in this oven on the “roast” setting. I highly recommend for you to WATCH your food all the time until you get used to how it cooks, then just lower the temp and set the timer for all your food to cook perfectly. Be sure to always turn the temperature down or you will not like this oven. To be honest, I just started using it before reading the instruction book. I don’t advise you do what I did cause I did set parchment paper on fire when the air fryer fan moved it off the pan. I’m now going to go back & read it everything thoroughly. I would keep this high powered oven off limits for children, careless teens or very elderly. I only use it about 2-3 times a week cause I live alone & I’ve had zero problems with a loud fan at all. This model is digital, so if you aren’t good with that, I recommend buying the other model with the knobs instead, though it’s not hard to operate. I’m a happy camper with my new fast cooking oven cause I can whip out the food like crazy.

Shattered! Controls fail quickly, too.
I cannot figure out air frying...I either get Jerky or charcoal. Still, it cooked things FAST. But... after a year, the dial started getting flaky, likely due to the placement of the electronics. After 4 more months, five minutes into using air-fry for some tater tots, the window shattered! No one was in the kitchen, it just went CRACK! See the photo. For me, this is not worth the quite high price. My 69$ countertop oven from black&decker lasted 5 times longer. UPDATE: I contacted Cuisinart about this, found out that my units was still under warranty and two weeks later I have a new unit on my counter -- at no cost to me what-so-ever. All they required was a photo of the damaged unit showing that the power cord was cut off and a shipping address. So, kudos for their support and I'm adding a star to my review for that reason. UPDATE #2: After less than six months with the (originally brand new) replacement unit, the control button/dial has already failed. This renders the entire unit unusable since I cannot choose cook mode, set temperature, time, etc. All in all, this is a piece of junk. That said, my sister has the same unit but with fully ANALOG controls and she absolutely loves it and uses it almost every single day. So I believe that Cuisinart didn't bother to properly protect the controls from the intense heat just below them and likely didn't even bother to purchase special controls that are resistant to high heat, say something certified for NASA re-entry vehicles, for example. So, STAY AWAY from this model, unless you want to get a new one (or get yours repaired) every six-twelve months. Honestly, I would've given this 1 (or even zero, if possible) stars, but I figure that many people ignore the lowest reviews and I'm hoping to help people avoid this far too fragile device! FOLLOW UP: Cuisinart has offered to replace the REPLACEMENT that failed. I will update again if they actually send another. However, I'm giving it away because I already bought something I like better: a NuWave Bravo XL.

works as described
roasted a chicken in 40 minutes and it was perfect. Keep checking the cook times for frozen items as I've found they cooked in half or less the time suggested.
