Pinstriping and Vehicle Graphics

My pinstripe skills are a work in progress.This book has shown me some good pointers and ideas, now i just need to practice!

This book was written in a very simple straightforward manner and includes good general info about types of paints, brushes and different techniques. It is a very good step-by-step guide for beginners. I really wish the photos and imagery would have been larger on a better quality paper to fully illustrate the art form that pin-striping is however it gets the job done.

Considering his life work and well deserved reputation, I expected a solid book, with lots of beautiful photos - but it did not fully meet my expectations.There is nothing wrong with the content - on the contrary: what and how he explained is straightforward and clean, very much useful for the beginners indeed.However, the look and feel of the printed product is somewhat disappointing. Small format, resulting almost thumbnail size photos, of wich two thirds are black and wite only. The quality of the paper does not allow bright, glossy pictures either. Even the binding is done a very simple way. It all feels like a home made booklet printed on a good quality inkjet printer then stitched together.Pinstriping is an art, and as such, would have deserved a shiny, attractive issue. Compare this book to Alan Johnson's "How to Pinstripe" (I am NOT comparing the artists or the content, but the printed books only!): almost double size format, glossy paper, large, vivid photos (all color), and a smart structure (not mentioning that one's near 160 pages, while this one has 120).If someone is looking for a good step-by-step guide (like the books' subtitle suggests), it nicely does it. But one should not expect anything beyond a reasonable content - just as nobody expects huge shiny color photos in a "User Manual" of a machine.

I purchased this book for my son.This is an excellent tool for learning how to pinstripe cars, boats and other metal.
