Some of the things I was considering in my search were: Perfect fit for a "15 MBP. And this medium sized Scout bag is! It's not a snug fit, but it doesn't need to be with the velcro flap containing it. I could probably fit a normal sized magazine in the laptop compartment along with the MBP. A medium sized bag. I didn't want anything huge and bulky, but I still wanted space for other computer accessories and/or daily carry items (wallet, phone, the option to conceal my gun inside of it, etc.). Well as the product title suggest, this bag is a medium sized bag, which fits the bill perfectly. So far it has been able to accommodate anything I've ever needed to carry in it. Looks were a factor. There are so many other companies out there with a gigantic logo stamped on the front, or some kind of wacky color scheme. The STM Scout is very subtle. This one in particular is a nice neutral color, and only has one small logo in the corner of the cover flap. I don't feel embarrassed coming into work with this, "business casual" looking shoulder bag. Of course I also wanted it to provide plenty of protection for my laptop. It's it's done that so far although I wouldn't feel too confident of the laptop safety if I dropped it on one of the corners. That's not what I need though. I just wanted something to slip the laptop in to protect from scratches, liquids, and a few bumps here and there. It's performed this task perfectly. An added bonus was that It travels very well through airports! I've taken this on at least 5 trips so far and it holds up nicely. It's great going through security with it because it's very easy to access the laptop and remove from the bag so it can go through the scanner. As you can see in some of the pictures it has a nice feature where a pocket in the back unzips and you can slide the handle of your luggage through. This was nice, but I think I only used it once. I normally have papers in there and don't want them to get messed up. I'm sure others could get a lost of use out of that feature though. Probably one of the things I like the most is the shoulder strap. The padding is great, but most importantly, the strap swivels 360 degrees so no matter how twisted it gets when you throw it over your shoulder, you can easily twist the ends around until they've smoothed out. I bought mine in October of 2012 and the bag has held up great until recently. The buckle on the cover flap is a type of plastic and a part of it broke and I can no longer buckle it in. I can still use the bag, but the cover just flaps around now. I just sent STM an e-mail about it so I'm waiting to hear back. I'll update this post on how it was handled. If for some reason it can't be replaced, I'll adjust the rating accordingly. --UPDATE-- So I filled out a repair request on STM's website which was very easy to do, and to my satisfaction, they had no problem sending a replacement part completely free of charge! They were also very quick to do so. I still highly recommend this laptop bag for a 15" MBP, and I will continue to use mine. It is light weight, holds my Macbook pro and iPad and chargers.
