Review: These are very good course sic stones - The person that said " it seems to not help me sharpen my knives" the best stones on earth will not get a knife sharp if your not doing your job sharpening. This stone cuts harder low carbide kitchen knife steels just fine, on your softer German steels it is more then course enough and fast cutting for reprofiling/correcting apex damage. This stones leaves a very course finish and is not a 1 and done stone unless your looking for an extremely course edge. If your looking for a low priced two stone setup you could do this stone as your reprofile and fixing apex damage stone and then get you something like a shapton glass 1000 for 50 bucks or so to use as your touch up and finishing stone. 1000g is a perfect all around kitchen knife edge finish for 95% of needs. Overall this is a fast cutting very course Sic stone that will serve you well for carbon steels, more basic stainless steels like. It's not a stone you want if your dealing with steels like say 10v, 15v, s90v, s125v, rex45, hap40 etc etc but for steels like 4116, aus8, aus10, vg10, lc200n, 14c28n, 19c27, s30v/s35vn, 3cr13mov, 5cr, 7cr, 8cr, 9cr etc etc sic has plenty of cutting power for steels in that class and below. Sic makes for a very good sharpening abrasive so long as you aren't dealing with steel that has very high ratio of very hard carbides for example vanadium carbide is a no no with sic as sic isn't hard enough to cut it. Chromium carbide is no problem for sic. For 30 bucks if you need a course relatively fast cutting Stone then this will do ya well.
