I would very happily eat them even if they had no caffeine at all. They are a bit sweeter than the usual chocolate (or other) candy or bar type items that I eat, but for instance, when I make cookies for myself I generally cut the sweetener down by 1/3-1/4 of what most recipes call for. I don't think they're much sweeter than, say, a Luna bar (which is actually the closest comparison to these that I can think of) or a Kind bar. They are wonderfully crispy, just the right amount of chewy, and the chocolate flavor is very well balanced to the other flavors, the chocolate really comes through very well. And even better, the caffeine content is great. I have a high tolerance for caffeine, it really takes a lot to affect me. A Mountain Dew gives me more of a sugar rush than a caffeine boost (resulting in a crash, of course). I don't bother with energy drinks that have less than 240 mg caffeine, and I really prefer 300. But, energy drinks have their own issues- I am very averse to the taste of Sucralose and it is very difficult to find energy drinks that don't contain any. Especially the ones that are higher in caffeine content, which tend to be sweetened exclusively with Sucralose and other artificial sweeteners that I just can't stomach. They also have the issue of portability, etc. I also tried some gummies with a high caffeine content, which were very tasty and they were effective, but not as much as these bars. I would put the gummies on the same level as energy drinks or coffee, effectiveness wise. So, these bars are ideal for me. They have very low calories, and for whatever metabolic/digestive reasons, I feel the effect of these bars much more rapidly than the effect from energy drinks, coffee, caffeine pills, etc. with the same amount of caffeine. When I got my first box of these to try them out, I ate a bar and ended up deep cleaning my whole house and then planting some seeds that I had been putting off because it involved getting the pots ready, lugging around bags of soil, etc. Then I went for a considerably longer, brisker walk than I thought I was even capable of (I have health issues as well, which is part of the reason that I need caffeine just to have enough energy to function at all), groomed my dogs, and did laundry. Even an energy drink with 300 mg of caffeine, or a large mocha coffee with 4 extra shots of espresso (in addition to the 2 that are standard from the coffee shop that I patronize), doesn't affect me that strongly, regardless of how quickly I drink it. Also, the seller is great. Shipping is prompt, packing is secure, and even in June there was no melting or other damage to the product. Two things: 1) Given the nature of the product (dark chocolate rice crispy bar) I would say yes, it would be perfect for running long distances. I've tried a bunch of others, but this one is the best. Great customer service too if you ever contact them. Sometimes, Jesse himself will respond! It feels good buying a solid product from a small/family business that is made in the USA. I have since quit coffee and eat these bars instead. My health has improved as a result. Great coffee alternative. The tea-based caffeine mixed together with the bar hits different than tea itself or coffee. Smoother, better, and healthier. I do not feel any sort of caffeine crash now. Maybe I needed time to adjust, not sure. I eat 1/4 to 1/3 of a bar in the morning, before anything else. Followed by a glass of water, and then my regular breakfast. 1 FULL bar if I need to be superhuman for a day. Works great for studying, working out, and road trips. ------------------ Pretty tasty bar. Has a little sugar with dark chocolate and it sort of tastes like coffee to me. I'll eat 1/3 of the bar to the whole thing. Usually drink a glass of water right before/after the bar, and I haven't had any heartburn issues yet, which is a big plus. The caffeine crash is mild with the bar, compared to coffee. WARNING: Eating the entire bar will give you a very strong caffeine PUNCH! Keep in mind, this bar has __ 310mg __ of caffeine. For most people, that's a very high amount, and the packaging even says "limit 1 bar per day". It hits harder than coffee, since the ingredients digest/absorb fast, and coffee is usually sipped on, whereas this bar gets devoured quickly. The boxes are small and contain only 6 bars. But since I don't usually eat 1 whole bar at a time, 1 box can last 2-4 weeks depending. I started with 1 box, and have since ordered 3 more. I compared the caffeine content of this bar and for the price, it's a better value than other caffeine bars on Amzn. Great for coffee replacement in the AM or whenever you'd rather eat a quick bar instead of hot coffee.
