Featuring a micronised monocrystalline diamond coating, it delivers faster sharpening without oil, backed by a 25-year warranty. Engineered for consistent flatness and durability, it’s the go-to tool for professionals seeking precision and longevity in edge maintenance. ## Description Since 1976, DMT has been in business to do just one thing: make the world’s best diamond sharpeners. Product innovations such as our signature polka-dot interrupted surface, and others with our continuous surface of high-performance diamond, are praised worldwide for their superior quality. From pocket-sized whetstones to heavy-duty bench stones, the difference arrives time and again through our undivided pursuit of sharpening excellence. For DMT products, no oil or pressure must be used to sharpen the tool or knife. Diamond Coverage differs widely from one manufacturer to the next. For long-lasting performance, DMT makes certain that each sharpening surface carries the most diamonds per square inch in the industry. Diamond Uniformity is also key to sharpener performance. DMT uses a proprietary process that ensures near-perfect consistency in grit size. The result is a micronised monocrystalline diamond that covers evenly across the sharpening surface to prove effective with every use, year after year. Surface Flatness can mean the difference between a well-honed tool and one that is barely serviceable. Flat surfaces maintain consistent, even contact with the edge to produce a bevel that carries the same degree of sharpness from end to end. DMT sharpeners are engineered to be the flattest on the market, and built to outlast other products, which are variable in surface, and often warped, hollowed or grooved. ## Features - Portable, lightweight and handy foldable handles that protect the diamond sharpening stone when not in use - Double sided: Extra coarse diamond for a diamond cutting edge and coarse diamond for working on a rounded edge - Faster than conventional stones thanks to the micronised monocrystalline diamond surface - No oil required, rinse dry or with water - Solid construction for years of performance and re service ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Asin | B00004WFTX | | Best Sellers Rank | 212,158 in DIY & Tools (See Top 100 in DIY & Tools) 193 in Sharpening Stones | | Brand Name | DMT | | Colour | Black / Blue | | Country Of Origin | USA | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars (200) 4.6 out of 5 stars | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00017042011635 | | Grit Type | Coarse | | Included Components | 1 x Double Sided Diafold Sharpener Coarse / Extra-Coarse | | Item Dimensions L X W X H | 12.9L x 3.3W x 1.7H centimetres | | Item Type Name | Pocket Sharpener | | Item Weight | 2.4 Ounces | | Manufacturer | Acme United Corporation | | Manufacturer Part Number | DMTFWCX-BRK | | Manufacturer Warranty Description | Guarantee – you acquire from dmt with purchase of our products in europe also a promise without restriction of your legal warranty rights. They're great.Sadly, they seem to have changed the design since I bought them - the current production has much flimisier-feeling handles, which are a lot more bulky and no longer properly cover the abrasive surface when closed, which can be an issue when thrown in a bag pocket. The abrasive still seems to be of the same quality - DMT are absolutely great at diamond abrasives. However, the much bulkier and bendier handles do affect the most typical use case for these- that of a super-packable and robust sharpener that you can throw in a bag without worry. The exposed abrasive is a worry. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent performance, BUT: *by on Reviewed in the United States 11 September 2013* I purchased this sharpener as an addition to my DMT Magna-Guide Quad kit, to have an XC (Black) surface that is compatible w/ the system.I opened the butterfly handles, and noticed about 4-5 very shiny scratch marks on the Blue Coarse side of the sharpener. It appears the plastic handles have scratched some of the diamonds completely off the paddle! So, I decided to break the sharpener in on my Cold Steel Heavy Machete. Both sides worked quite well, and when I sprayed them w/ water to lubricate the sharpening paddle, no other scratches were noted. The machete itself still needs a once over w/ a Dremel, file, and crockstick to meet my standard, but thats not DMTs problem. These sharpening grits (XC-C) produce a rough, very "toothy" edge on tools, and you really need DMT Red (F) to actually achieve a good sharp utility edge IMHO.If you use this XC-C sharpener on your knife, (Take it EASY!, NO PRESSURE NEEDED!) don't expect to be slicing paper and shaving hair w/o a DMT Red (F) and Green (XF), or some form of hard white ceramic hone to complete the work.I will contact DMT about the scratches and update.Great sharpener, and highly recommended for preliminary refining of established bevels on knives and axes, hatchets etc., removing small dings and chips or careful first stage roughing in of a convex grind by hand, but it will be hard to use on curved knives like khukuris. The edge you produce will be far finer and sharper w/ DMT diamond hones if you use all the stone grits in progression obviously. ### ⭐⭐ GROS BOF *by on Reviewed in France 18 March 2022* Affûtage grossier. ## Frequently Bought Together - Diamond Machining Technology (DMT) FWCX Diafold 2-Sided Portable Diamond Sharpening Stone, Coarse/Extra Coarse - Diamond Machining Technology (DMT) Diafold Serrated Diamond Knife Sharpener, Fine (FSKF), 4" - DMT FWMEF-H Double Sided Diafold Sharpener with Fine/Extra-Fine Hardcoat Surface --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/90513407-dmt-fwcx-double-sided-diafold-sharpener-coarse-extra-coarse](https://www.desertcart.co.za/products/90513407-dmt-fwcx-double-sided-diafold-sharpener-coarse-extra-coarse) --- *Product available on Desertcart South Africa* *Store origin: ZA* *Last updated: 2026-10-17*
