More than I was hoping for, truly great frame with wonderful image quality and very easy to use ...

Been looking to get this frame for a while, finally ordered and received it yesterday.Setup was super simple. Booted, updated, ready to go. Visit Web site, create account add frame, serial number was on the frame screen, enter on Web, linked. Linked to my Flickr account. Drag and drop a few Flickr Albums to Nixplay Playlists. Boom, started playing on the frame. What I love- Image quality, Image quality, Image quality. Best I've seen. Next to my plasma TV and 30" wide-gamut monitor, this has the best image quality of any flat panel I use. This is my 5th digital frame (2 earlier Nix, 2 others), and this is far and away the best. Off angle is good. Have to tilt so you aren't looking from too much below straight on and then contrast is wonderful.- Web integration is wonderful. Connects reliably to my home wireless. Easy to upload. Easy to map playlists to the frame. Easy to integrate with other services like Flickr. Easy to control frame features/config from Cloud.- 16:9 format. I take 35mm with D810, and since my other main display vehicle is flat screen plasma TV, I've decided to standardize on 16:9 for my display aspect ratio. So I was honestly looking for a 16:9 frame. I get the camera/format you use will determine if you are happy or not so happy with that, but for me the world is going in that direction and I've decided not to fight it.- Email to frame, my wife will love this so she can take pics on her phone and boom they will hit the frame. The feature to display recent before other photos I think will work, but when you add a Flickr album it treats those as recent so right now everything I have is recent. That will resolve I hope in a day or two.Remote control frame. This was my primary reason to get this frame. This first frame is for me. The next one will be for my mom. The ability to cast new photos to her frame from my computer will be invaluable. The ability to have different Playlists for each frame will be great. What can be better- 500 photo limit in a Playlist could be improved, but honestly it won't be an issue for me. You can map multiple playlists to each frame, and they will all play, so it's fine understanding that.- Viewing from angles below the frame the contrast goes away faster than I like, but I just tilted the frame forward a bit and now it looks great from across the room in a sitting position (which is below a straight on angle to the screen where I chose to put the frame). I just put a small spacer under the back of the frame foot and now it's great. In most locations it would be fine out of the box I think. Changing this would be a different flat panel, and this one looks so good when viewed from most angles I will live with this one.- Automatic sync to updates in linked albums, such as on Flickr, would be great. I think the linkage is static so if you add more images to Flickr it won't update on the frame. But honestly I have yet to test that it's just my impression given how the interface works. I think I saw a feature request about this so maybe it's being worked already.I did have the frame shut itself off after I made a change to its config from the Web, and I had to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to come back on. But after that, it worked properly including sleeping and waking up based on the IR sensor. I can deal with that and hopefully those kind of issues will get worked out. Other than that, everything has worked smoothly on the frame and on the Web so far.Overall, I'm very happy with this digital frame. It looks good. The displayed images are wonderful. It's easy to use. I believe it will solve the problem of displaying images for others, like family members, who are distant. The cost was very good for what you get. It's "almost" large enough, simply meaning bigger is always better but this is large enough to be usable from 10 to 15 feet away which is most locations. When they come out with an 18" or bigger version that will work in a wall-mount situation, I will get one immediately. Until then, I will likely end up with a few of these between my mom and my two or 3 locations where I want them. Great job, Nix, once again.

Awesome frame with room for improvement

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2015*

I recently purchased a Nixplay Edge 13 inch digital picture frame for my mother living in Italy (I am in the USA) so that I can share pictures of my newborn and our life more easily, and for her to enjoy them on a larger screen while she is at home. I needed something that was trivial to setup and that I could administer remotely to ensure there would be nothing stopping her from enjoying the picture frame.I am always a bit reluctant to buy hardware that depends on “the cloud” because I prefer to have total control on locally on my device and I do not trust companies to keep supporting the device as long as I want to use the device. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the frame has a full menu of settings locally that one can use to override the settings set through the cloud. If the cloud support were ever to be removed, one can administer all its features locally therefore extending its life.Creating an account on nixplay.com and linking the frame to it was very easy. This means one could likely purchase a frame for a less technically savvy family member and set it up for them remotely (the remote party will just have to use the remote/or buttons on the back, to link the frame to the wifi network, and finally to get to the serial number needed for pairing to the nixplay account). You, the more technically savvy one, can finish the setup and loading of pictures from anywhere in the world (assuming you have the pictures to load).I can’t say I am thrilled with the web interface as I find myself going around in circles looking for what I need. It was really easy to setup friends so that my sister and I can easily email pictures of our families to the frame but I just cannot figure out how to have pictures sent by my mother be shown on the default playlist I set up. The easiest work around is for her to use a different email address from the one on the account set up as if it were a friend to send the pictures… doing this enables the automatic addition to the frame’s playlist (I only set one up). I truly think the website can be significantly improved however mostly it does what it needs. The frame’s user interface is quite basic but after all you will not have to interact with it very much. The menu and text seems designed for a smaller screen and simply installed on the larger screen without any adjustments. This seems silly to me as it looks awkward, and will surely be harder to read for those with less than perfect eyesight. The Android app it quite basic as well… I was hoping it would give you full control over the pictures and settings but I think most users can do without unless you want an easier way to load your own pictures from your cell to the frame. Hopefully future revisions of the app will have more functionality. The hardware design of the frame looks pretty nice and well done. I would recommend they find a way to hide the IR sensor for the remote and the motion sensor as the two little squares on the bottom right do not add anything to the looks but that is just me. The bracket to hold the screen up is sturdy and can be slid into a thin slot to position the frame in portrait or landscape however I would not consider putting this frame in portrait position because the frame width is twice as wide where the sensors and logo are (on the bottom if in landscape). Had they not put the logo, and made the frame width equal on all four sides, the frame would look good in either orientation. Another frame I have from Sony has equal width sides and the logo can be switched off so if you put the frame in the portrait orientation, you can hide the now sideways logo by switching it off.The full HD resolution of this screen makes it a pleasure to look at pictures, something that most frames fail at if you are picky like me (photography has been my hobby for 2 decades). I have not had a need to adjust viewing settings on this screen but looked for them anyhow and was surprised to only find “brightness” already set at max. This troubles me quite a bit but the pictures look good so it might not be too bad after all. The colours look right, and none of the pictures looked washed out or too dark. Of course it will not do miracles on bad pictures so the above comment applies to average pictures with no huge visual defect. Pictures taken with my Samsung S6 Edge look just awesome on this frame without any adjustments… even the ratio of the picture is perfect so landscape picture fit perfectly. As other reviewers have posted, the slideshow settings are a bit minimal and nixplay should certainly beef them up. One reviewer had suggested to add a setting that would allow a scrolling picture to fully scroll before moving on to the next. The issue is that some pictures take longer than 10 or 15 seconds to fully scroll so they never fully show being too big. A fix here is to make those pictures smaller, prefer pictures in the same orientation as the frame, or use “fit to screen” as I did. You waste some screen real-estate (black bars) but you don’t have any scrolling issues. This product has great potential and most of the things that I am not too fond of can be addressed by software updates so I am hopeful they will do so in the near future. I have seen many terrible off-brand screens so this one was a good surprise (I purchased it without seeing it in person) and after all I got it for my mother so the most critical aspect was enabling my less critical mother’s enjoyment.I will likely purchase 2 or 3 more of these frames for our use at home and to give to other family members. Would be nice if the price were a bit lower though ;-) NOTE: I purchased my frame from another retailer as it was not in stock at Amazon just a few days ago andI needed it before my mother left to return to Italy.EDIT: I purchased an additional frame but this time from Amazon during a lightning deal at $90 off!! It came with the most up-to-date firmware (unlike the one from an online store in NY) which saved me a few weeks in troubleshooting via email/phone with Nixplay (thanks for resolving the issue by the way!!!). All of what I wrote above still applies with frame #2 however they have added a few more customizations compared to what was available a month ago when I was setting up frame #1.

    Very good product

*by H***A on Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2017*

I don't normally write reviews, but this product deserves one. Bought this for my wife because it was such a hassle to get pictures onto her old photo frame, make them display, etc. We had this out of the box and set up within 15 minutes. She uses Google Photos and had photos loaded and running on the frame in another 10 minutes. Very seamless. The web interface is quite user friendly and easy, and it enables the user to control all the features through the browser. Very easy to update and change photos, set and enable/disable multiple playlists and control how they display. "Fit to Frame" setting ensures that the whole photo will be displayed if you want to avoid cropping. A couple of things: (1) the frame will display and play videos, but only when they are supplied through a USB or SD card--it is not possible to send videos through wifi, although they say they may add this feature in the future. Not a big deal for us, but just be aware. (2) the display is good quality, but not as good as what you are probably used to on your iPad. The brightness at 250 nits could be higher (iPad is > 400), and the color saturation could be better. Their web site describes the frame as "vivid," but I don't quite see it that way. They probably made a cost trade-off, which is understandable to keep the price accessible for a broad audience. I think most people will be satisfied with the quality of display, but for me personally, I would be willing to pay more for a super good display. Anyway, this is a very easy way to display photos, and it is well designed and implemented.
