I did not want to spend hundreds of dollars on a detailed , lifelike model. I needed something inexpensive , but realistic to serve as a nice visual aid. It is small( about the size of a fist), and contains 31 pieces. The assembly guide provides definitions for each of the 31 pieces. It is small and tedious to assemble , but quite simple. I managed to do it without the assembly guide. I recommend firmly snapping each small section , as loosely assembled sections are later difficult to form the full brain. It is nice and solid, and a great learning aid for basic brain anatomy.
