The flash is bright and even (watch out because the range isn't as far as you'd think, compensate using exposure settings), but takes a minute or so to charge up considering it uses only 2 AAA batteries; subsequent charges are faster until you switch it off, however. I don't think many people take Polaroids in quick succession so it isn't that debilitating.
