I purchased it because I am going to be starting a home renovation. It covers everything and then some of what I was planning on doing. It has helpful tips and great illustrations. I also thoroughly enjoy the routine maintenance tips that are provided in the book. There are definitely some important things that I have added to my to-do list. The tips alone are worth every penny of what you pay for the book. The only reason I did not give the book 5 stars is the newest publication of it is somewhat outdated. There is nothing about home automation products. I couldn't relate to the main characters, so I didn't care if they succeeded. This book is like a cross between 50 Shades of Grey and 1984. The setting starts out vapid and colorless until the invasion, and then the author picks up the literary crayons and gets to work coloring. The real star of this show is the neighbor. He is both amicable and sympathetic, without being too much of a goody-two-shoes to be palatable. I'd watch the movie as long as it was cast well. I looked at this at a book store before buying it and was impressed with how detailed the picture and diagrams are. This book really is a one stop shop for how to complete many home repair or construction projects. It includes sections on everything from plumbing and electrical to framing, drywall, and brick work. It is detailed enough that you can use it to approach complicated jobs with little experience but its laid out in a way to make it very easy to read and understand.
