## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you use poe ports as a regular port or has to be a poe device?**
A: Yes, the PoE standard used is 802.3af, which will automatically detect whether the connected device is PoE compatible and act accordingly. Non-PoE devices can be used in the PoE ports just fine.

**Q: Can the managed version also function like a plug and play, or does it take extra work to set it up compared to the unmanaged?**
A: It’s possible but not a sure thing. It will function as a switch, but may require configuration to work in YOUR system. For me, it defaulted to 192.168.0.1, which was already assigned to my home router, so it took down my network until I went into the settings and assigned it a different static IP address. After, it was fine.

**Q: Is the 1gb per port throughput bi-directional, meaning you can get 1gb of throughput both sending and receiving on each port?**
A: Yes, the 1gb is bidirectional.

**Q: What is PoE**
A: PoE stands for Power over Ethernet. PoE is an industry standard for networking infrastructure, allowing PoE compatible devices to receive both power and Ethernet network connectivity via the RJ45 (Ethernet) cable.
