Review: Great selection; old but seemingly good translation by John Veitch - The book does not seem to name the translator anywhere, which I find disrespectful to their effort. However, comparison of the text with others indicates it is the late 19th/early 20th c. translation by John Veitch. A modern one might be a bit clearer to us, but perhaps his language can also said to be well reflective of Descartes rambling Latin sentences. I like the selection - the entire Meditations, the entire Discourse on Method (whose part IV focuses on his famous 'cogito...'), and what seems to be a significant portion of his Principles of Philosophy. and a scholarly introduction of ten pages or so. Support your local independent bookstore.

The book does not seem to name the translator anywhere, which I find disrespectful to their effort.
