Review: Get them! Ridiculously pretty and 1/6 the price of bigger names for duos. - I own well over 500 bottles of polish, mostly mainstreams like Essie and OPI, plus a few indies like Holo Taco and cirque colors. I’m a sucker for chromes but went through a phase about 5 years ago when I chucked anything that wasn’t a creme or shimmer, sure I would never again wear others. I should know by now to never say “Never!” when it comes to nail polish. Anyway, I was debating ordering some gorgeous ones from an indie line but the idea of spending over $100 to get 6 or 7 colors felt too extreme but any less and I’d be paying $10 to ship them, so I did a search and found this set. Reviews seemed decent and I figured I could use them as a topper or give them to my nieces if they were really lousy. Well, 24 hours after receiving them, I’m shook. I’ve used two of them (the reddish gold and the blue, which I put on on top of the other because I am not patient and wanted to try more). The polish is nice and thin, which I like, as it’s easy to work with. The brush is surprisingly decent (way better than the super skinny ones) and the bottles are smaller than the standard .5 but probably only by about 1/2 the usual size so there’s enough for many applications. The first coat was very sheer but I only needed two for almost full opacity (very slight VNL on a few if there was light behind my hands but my nails are short after a summer of gardening took its toll on them). When I put a coat of the blue on over the lighter one, I only needed the one although I’m sure it would be more vivid with an extra coat. I’m legit impressed with dry time (just a few minutes) and how well it cured. I’m used to cremes, which sometimes take a full day before they feel fully hardened and don’t dent. Not 20 minutes after application, I was buttoning and zipping my jeans without difficulty, which is wild to me. It’s not sticky or tacky at all and no clumps or inconsistencies in the formula. Given that it’s so inexpensive, I don’t know if it may contain dangerous chemicals so I don’t know that I’d wear this daily all year, but I use Nailtiques as a base and topper and reapply that every two days (otherwise my nails peel off and tear right down to the quick) so I feel okay using this occasionally. This whole set of six cost less than a single one from the shimmery site I was going to purchase from (IYKYK), and since duochromes are a fun break and not my regular, I’m okay with the fact that it seems to wear at the tips more quickly than my usuals (see pic, the same day I applied it). There’s definite depth to the chromes and the colors seem to be like just about all skin tones could wear at least most, although they obviously may not have as much contrast the darker your skin (but with the chrome, they draw so much attention, they’ll still show). I’ve already put several in my cart to buy as gifts and the $10 I paid was well worth it. I see that today it is $12 so you may want to watch for a drop in price during Prime Days and such. But even at $12, $2 a bottle for a decent polish that’s gorgeous is a steal. This only lets me upload one video which seems lame but they are all beautiful, especially the middle four. The lemon-lime and the brown could be fun in fall or as a topper.
